Position Description:
The Treasurer is responsible for the safeguard of all funds for the organization.This includes the review and approval of the organization’s financial records, in concert with the Executive Director, in such form and detail as to permit preparation of financial reports for the Board and others. The Treasurer also serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
What to Expect:
An estimated time commitment of three (3) to five (5) hours per week on monthly commitments and reports, which includes, but are not limited to, Treasurer’s Report, budget reports, contact with assigned chapters, monthly ExCom phone conference, monthly ExCom/National Committee Chairs conference call, quarterly ExComfinancial conference calls (as part of regular ExCom phone conference), and quarterly ExCom/Town Hall Chapter Leadership conference calls.Expect extra tasks / preparations for EDSymposium as required.Ability to respond to email in a timely manner is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Treasurer
Reviews the monthly financial reports and semi-monthly check-run detail reports produced by National HQ and takes action as needed
Prepares quarterly review of financials prepared by Headquarters and report to ExCom
Prepares and submits annual financial report to Board of Directors and Members
Develops National Budget for review and approval by ExCom
Compiles Committee Budget requests for National Budget
Compiles required Annual Chapter Financial Reports
All ExCom
Attends Annual EDSymposium
Attends Annual Business Meeting at EDSymposium
Attends ExCom working meeting and ExCom transition meeting at EDSymposium
Prepares and presents position-specific section of Annual Report at Annual Business Meeting.
Attends ExCom Strategic Retreat (summer)
Prepares monthly Treasurer’s Report to ExCom, noting all activity / action, items of interest or concern, and status of tasks for that month. Distributes to ExCom for monthly conference call
Participates in all monthly ExCom conference calls, including quarterly financial review
Participates in all Monthly ExCom / National Committee Chairs Conference Calls
Participates in all Quarterly ExCom / Chapter Leadership Conference Calls
Liaison to a number of chapters, as assigned by President
Participates in all conference calls for liaison committees
Supports the President, as needed, in overseeing and mentoring committee activities
Authors articles for various SDA publications as determined in schedule
Monitor website group discussions per scheduled assignment, and contributes as needed to ensure responses (or researches responses if unable to personally answer)
Create chapter communication for use by all ExCom member per scheduled assignment (twice per year)
Create Officer Bulletin one time during term, per scheduled assignment
Complete tasks and assignments required and/or requested by President, President-Elect, and Executive Director
Holds one vote on the Board of Directors
Committee Responsibilities:
Chairperson of National Finance Committee
Adhoc committees as needed to perform additional assignments
