SOCIAL SPORTS GENERAL RULES

  1. Forfeits
  2. Team forfeits must be communicated with the Social Sports Officer via email or on 6488 7009, or the UWA Recreation & Fitness Centre Front Desk on 6488 2286 if it is out of office hours
  3. Teams that forfeit with less than 48 hours’ notice will charged a $50 forfeit fee
  4. Forfeits will be recorded as a loss on the championship tally
  5. Each sport has a minimum number of players before a forfeit. Teams may play with reduced teams sizes in order to avoid forfeits
  1. Withdrawal
  2. UWA Sports reserves the right to change fixtures should a team be withdrawn from a competition. UWA Sport will replace the withdrawn team where possible. New fixtures will be provided to team managers as soon as possible
  1. Fixtures
  2. Fixtures for the start of the season will be finalised the FRIDAY BEFORE THE START OF THE COMPETITION. Fixtures are communicated to teams via the following ways:
  3. Emailed to team managers (it is the managers responsibility to then communicate this with the rest of their team)
  4. The UWA Sports website
  5. Phone application ‘Team App’ (in order to use Team App, simply search the app store for Team App, set up an account, and then search in the app for UWA Social Sports. All fixtures, results, and ladders can be found here)
  6. All teams can expect to play a fair spread of allgame timeslots throughout the competition
  7. UWA Sport reserves the right to add and change any game times where necessary. Team managers will be emailed new fixtures if change is made more than 48 hours prior to the change. Inside 48 hours, team managers will be contacted via telephone
  8. Weekly updates of the ladders can be found on the social sports phone application ‘Team App’
  1. Results & Ladders
  2. Teams will be ranked according to the following championship point system:

7.1.2 Draw 2 points

7.1.3 Loss 1 point

4.2Team managers are required to sign off on the scoresheet at the conclusion of their game to ensure the result is correct.

  1. Weather
  2. All teams are expected to play in rain and/or windy conditions. If conditions are deemed unsafe (due to severe weather warnings or lightning), UWA Sports reserves the right to cancel the nights fixtures
  3. UWA Sports reserves the right to cancel fixtures in extreme heat
  4. UWA Sports Staff will monitor the conditions throughout the day. If the decision is made to cancel the games, team managers will be contacted via telephone or SMS starting at 4:15pm. Teams playing the earliest games will be contacted first
  5. If games commence and conditions become unsafe, the sports coordinatorwill make the decision to cancel games. The Front Desk will be notified and teams with later games will be contacted

  2. All players are required to wear a team uniform consisting of same coloured tops and same coloured bottoms. Where teams have similar colours, a set of bibs will be provided.
  3. All players must remove objects such as watches/jewellery (taping of facial jewellery is expected) that may be dangerous to other players. A wedding band or a medic alert bracelet may be worn, but must be appropriately taped. UWA will not supply tape, it is the responsibility of participants
  4. Nails must be cut. UWA Sport will not supply nail clippers, it is the responsibility of participants
  5. Appropriate non-marking covered footwear must be worn. The competition coordinator reserves the right to pull a player from the game if their footwear is deemed unsafe
  1. Player & spectator code of behaviour
  2. The team manager is responsible for all players in his/her team, as well as spectators associated with the team
  3. The team manager is the only person permitted to speak to the officials during the half time break or at the end of the game
  4. Should a team wish to make a formal complaint, their team manager should do so in writing to the UWA Social Sport Officer
  5. Foul and abusive language is not permitted under any circumstances
  6. Playing under the influence of alcohol is not permitted, and any individuals deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or any other drugs may be required to leave the centre
  7. Disruptive behaviour is not permitted, including unsportsmanlike conduct both on and off the field
  8. Fighting of any nature is not permitted
  9. Officials will report participants who they believe have broken the code of behaviour to the UWA Social Sport Officer. Further action, including suspension of the player or team, maybe taken if required
  1. Blood, injury or illness stoppages
  2. When a player is bleeding, injured or ill, a stoppage of up to one minute will be allowed from when time is called. If the incident has not been rectified after one minute the player must be substituted and play continued. The game clock will continue running and no time will be added. Any article of clothing containing blood shall be replaced
  3. In the event of a player receiving an injury which prevents him/her from being removed from the court until the arrival of an ambulance for ten (10) minutes or longer, the score at the time of the injury will be recorded as the final result, including if the scores are equal
  4. Should an injury of this nature occur during a final and the scores are drawn at the time of the injury the team which placed higher on the ladder during the season will be rewarded the win
  1. Late arrivals
  2. Not only does it keep the other team waiting, late starts affect the whole evening’s games, therefore the clock will start running at the scheduled time. If a team is late, they will be penalised accordingly (see individual sport rules) and the game will continue
  3. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your game start time to ensure your game fee is paid before the game
  4. A team will be considered late if payment hasn’t been received or the team is not prepared to play at the commencement of the game
  5. Teams will not be permitted to play unless a receipt showing payment of the game fee is produced for inspection to the court official
