HIGH SCHOOL & ELEMENTARY ANNOUNCEMENTS

ADAY – THURSDAY, JANUARY 28, 2010

Freshman: Reminder! If you are on the ineligible list, you are to be in homework help room during lunch and homeroom for the whole week you are ineligible!

The junior class will be serving BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs, chips, desert, and tea during the homecoming game.

Ineligible list is due to office no later than 11:15 tomorrow morning.

Student Council Members: We are asking all members to donate 2 dozen cookies to the Homecoming Dance. Please bring them on Friday, Feb 5th to Mrs. C Lightle.

Softball Open Gym today & tomorrow. Next week’s schedule is Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday.

Homecoming is next week: All class shirts must be ordered and paid for by tomorrow, no exceptions. Sign up for shirt sizes and pay in the office. Freshmen, Junior, & senior shirts are $10. Sophomore shirts are $12.

Homecoming next week activities: Monday is twin/duo day and Tuesday is Nerd/Redneck Day. More info later.

Seniors: You need to sign up for homecoming concessions & 50/50 raffle with Mrs. Scranton or Mr. Taylor.

Homecoming Court must be at the office at 1:15 today for picture. DO NOT be late because juniors & seniors have lunch!

Quiz Bowl meet will be today at Payson. Bus time will be 3:00pm.

Student Council would like any used greeting cards (Christmas, birthday, etc). We are donating them to St. Jude’s Children for craft/card projects (as their fundraiser). Please give to Mrs. C. Lightle, Mariah, or bring in to the office.

The book selection committee (Mariah Richard, Jenni Warren, Clayton Myers, Evan Higgins, Austin Beard, and Lindsey Hobson) will meet Monday, Feb 1 during 1st homeroom in the HS library. If you have any suggestions of titles or authors you’d like to see in our library, please tell one of the committee members or Mrs. B Lightle.

Homecoming guest (who is not a GPHS student) forms (these must be in 5 days before the dance) and picture forms are now in the office. Pick yours up today!

Team Impact is collecting items (dressings, wrap, Band-Aids, Ibuprofen, tape, bottled water, cough drops, cough medicine, sheets, & blankets) for Haiti. If you would like to donate, please bring to the office. We are beginning to get donations. Thank you for your help!

HELP FOR HAITI: We are still collecting change for Haiti, to be given to the Red Cross. Collection jars are in the office and teachers’ lounge. A huge thank you to all who have donated! You’re the best!

Students whose names are on the overdue list will have their grade cards held. Some of those still have grade cards held from the 1st 9 weeks.

Lady Tornadoes (Senior Night) will play at home against QND at 6:00. We need a ticket taker and freshmen have concessions.

Saturday:

Freshman game at home at 10:00 a.m. against Payson. We need a ticket taker.

MUST READS FOR TODAY! ---

Students – Tomorrow is the last day to submit your ideas on what our new construction project should be named. (Ex. “Instruction Under Construction”) You may enter as many ideas or slogans as you wish. Be creative… Drop your entries in the box located in the library. The winner will be announced next Monday, February 1st. Remember though, we are looking for a name for the project, not re-naming the school.

Reminder: Students are to go to the small gym each morning upon arriving at school. Coats, book bags, etc. are to be left in the gym when going to breakfast. Please do not go to lockers before the bell.

Lady Eagles play at Western Friday, January 29th at 4 p.m. They will leave at 2:45 p.m.

WEEKLY FYI:

7th Grade Sectional at Waverly will be Wednesday, February 3rd. We will play Our Saviours at 6 p.m.

Lady Tornadoes play at QND at 6 p.m. tonight.

The Eagles and GPMS will be hosting the 8th grade boys Regional on Saturday, January 30th, Monday, February 1st & Tuesday, February 2nd. Bowen and Meredosia will play the first game on Saturday at 10 a.m. followed by Triopia and Pleasant Hill at 11:15 a.m. The Eagles will play the first game on Monday, February 1st at 6:15 against the winner of the Bowen/Meredosia game. Bluffs will play the winner of the Triopia/Pleasant Hill game at 7:30 p.m. The Championship game will begin at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2nd. Spencer & Co. has concessions Saturday and VG & Friends Monday and Tuesday.

If anyone can help out with tickets please let the office know.

The 8th Grade Sectional will also be played here at home on Wednesday, February 10th at 6 p.m.

Admission to Regional & Sectional Tournaments will be $2.00 for Grades K-8 & Senior Citizens (62+) and $4.00 for High School and Adults. I.E.S.A. passes only; no activity passes will be accepted.
