A few practical details
Registration fees areas following: Unwaged, £120; Waged: £160. Payment details will be circulated at a later date, together with the exact cost of the conference dinner and the excursion.
Registration will take place on Wednesday 12 July, 3-5pm, in the lobby of the Novotel and/or at Reading train station. For colleagues arriving late (or early), the conference packs will be left at their hotel (do not forget to tell the organisers where you will be staying!).
All participants are invited to an apéritif that evening.
The conference will be opened officially on Thursday 13 July at 10am in the Agriculture building of the University of Reading (Whiteknights campus). The afternoon plenary will be followed by poster presentations and drinks.
Thursday 13 July and Friday 14 July, 9am-5pm, we meet on campus (Whiteknights, University of Reading).
Saturday 15 July and Sunday 16 July, papers take place in the conference facilities of the Novotel, in Reading town centre.
Meals: With the exception of the conference dinner on Saturday evening, mealtimes are not organised. There are eateries on campus, and Reading town centre has many restaurants catering to a wide range of tastes and requirements.
The conference dinner will be at Bel and the Dragon, a restaurant located in the Victorian technical buildings of the locks on the river Kennet.
Guided tours of medieval Reading will be organised at various points during the conference (small groups, on foot). We hope to gain access to the abbey ruins at some point.
The excursion, for those who wish it, will be cream tea during a short river cruise on the Thames, on Sunday afternoon. Prices vary depending on numbers, so we would be grateful if you could express interest well in advance.
