Soccer Board Meeting 7/23/12

Men’s league losing money about $300 this year. Last year lost $1,500. In the Spring the board will need to determine if Stratham Soccer should be funding the men’s league operating at a deficit. The men’s league should set fees at a level to cover expenses as all other Stratham Soccer programs do.
Spring travel program discrepancy has been resolved.
Descriptions are needed on deposits on treasurers report.

Harvey is the travel team coordinator for all three travel teams.
At least one team will be participating in the Jamboree 8/25 and 8/26 $85 entry fee, held on Seacoast Epping Fields. This fee was not included in the travel team fees. Motion to cover the costs this year. Approved. Next year fees will need to be increased to cover this Jamboree.

Dates for the fall program
Open registration – August 1 – Seth to remove the $10 credit for coaching. Adding the question “what grade are you entering?”
Teams put together by Tuesday the September 4th. Some teams may start practice the week of the 4th. September 8th is kickoff for K, ½ . September 8th first practice, for ¾, 5/6, September 9th will be the first game for ¾, 5/6. No Seacoast mentoring for ¾, 5/6 on Saturdays.
Coaches meeting Thursday September 6th
Out of town coaches meeting September 4th
Season end date November 3rd for ¾, 5/6. Kindergarten end date October 27th.
Late Fee for registration will be in effect on August 30th, Cut off is August 29th.
Proposed pricing for K, ½ is $50, Proposed pricing for ¾, 5/6 is $55. Motion to set the 2012 rates as follows: K $45 , ½ $50 and 3-6th $55.

Fall Soccer Academy

Motion to have Seacoast run program again. Approved. Proposed date September 12. Academy to be held on Wednesdays, times for age groups same as 2011.

Seacoast United

Stratham Soccer will continue their partnership with seacoast united for the fall 2012 mentoring program.
Seacoast will run the coaches meeting again this year. We are requesting a change in the format of that meeting . The meeting will be a 1 ½ hour session for coaches K, ½ and a 11/2 hour session for ¾, 5/6 coaches.

Too much talking, should be outside, every coach with a ball. Hand out ahead of time session should be focused on drills.

Sunday night camp registration needs to be made mandatory. This year only 50% of the campers showed up for registration.
Consumed 31 jugs of water. Water bottles returned, Stratham Soccer is due a credit back for bottle deposit for 2011(42 jugs) and 2012 (30 jugs)
Lost and Found need to be claimed by August 1st
Scholarships – 2 given out , 1 full day, 1 ½ day
Host Families – Families reported a good experience
Total numbers of campers – 161 - 29 mini campers, 72 ½ day AM, 9 ½ day PM, 51 full day campers.
½ Day AM camp needs to included 5th- 8th graders, next year. Losing potential campers because camp was only offered in the PM for this age group.
$2,846 is the amount due to Stratham soccer
Challenger provided a new contract – Kerry advised Challenger that we would be interested in a year to year contract rather than a multiyear deal.
Contract will be reviewed at the next meeting. Kerry will reach out to Challenger for pricing.
Coaching clinic is part of the Challenger contract. Kerry to find out what they will be offering
Survey – 25 responses so far. Feedback has been positive.

Action Items:

Harvey - Stratham Soccer is due a credit back for bottle deposit for 2011(42 jugs) and 2012 (30 jugs) credit due from Nestle Water.

Sherri to determine notification process to include, Newfield, Brentwood and Greenland in our Seacoast Fall Training Camp.
