Smile Train is a fast growing charity with big plans for the future. This role will offer the right candidate the chance to work on an exciting range of recruitment and retention activities, including; Direct Mail, SMS Text Giving Campaigns, Face to Face and Telephone Fundraising. This role offers the right candidate a great opportunity to take their experience within Direct Marketing fundraising to the next level.

Purpose: As part of the UK fundraising team you’ll be managing Direct Marketing Campaigns against agreed income and expenditure targets. Campaigns will be project managed efficiently and effectively as part of the overall Direct Marketing Programme. You’ll be working alongside the Integrated Marketingteam based in New York.

Main Duties:

·  Manage the day-to-day activities of the direct mail campaigns including acquisition, retention and regular donor mailings. Tasks include, but are not limited to, managing the UK DM budget, supplying content (photos, copy etc.) for creative development, reviewing and approving all creative including wet and digital proofs, sample filing and managing acquisition list planning.

·  Manage the UK telemarketing campaigns including script review, data approval, campaign performance evaluation and budget creation and management.

·  Develop and manage new direct marketing initiatives (e.g. face-to-face) including initial process set-up, message/script development, producing collateral and managing data transfer as required.

·  Manage the direct marketing budget ensuring accuracy and budget compliance.

·  Manage print advertising including creative direction and approval, liaising with media agency on media planning, budget creation, invoice approval, data transfer and campaign performance evaluation.

·  Liaise with PR agency to help identify and promote branding and awareness opportunities.

·  Lead strategy development, execution and stewardship of committed giving programmes.

·  Work closely with external agencies for strategic planning and conception, design and production of marketing materials.

·  To track, analyse and report on results from assigned Direct Marketing campaigns and monitor supporter feedback. And to conduct and present detailed End of Campaign Reports for Direct Marketing Campaigns which feed into the planning of future campaigns as appropriate.

·  Oversee the creation of marketing materials as needed by the UK fundraising team including the production of Legacy, Major Gifts, and Community Fundraising materials.

·  Perform all other duties as required.

Additional Responsibilities:

1.  To be pro-active in keeping abreast of industry developments and relevant laws. Undertake training as necessary.

2.  To handle ad-hoc queries and requests from internal colleagues on operational aspects of Direct Marketing as requested by the Director of Fundraising.

3.  To support and contribute to the wider objectives of the UK Fundraising Team and to manage other projects as required by the Director of Fundraising.

4.  To liaise with external agencies, as and when required.

5.  To attend and actively contribute to UK Fundraising Team and other meetings which may be held away from the office.

6.  To represent the UK Fundraising Team at meetings with external agencies as appropriate.

7.  To undertake any other activity reasonably requested by the Director of Fundraising.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL:

·  Direct Marketing experience

·  Communication skills, both verbally and in writing including ability to write and present briefs, reports and campaigns

·  Experience of writing creative communications and copy

·  Ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external

·  Persuasion, negotiation and presentation skills

·  Prioritising and decision making skills

·  IT literate, including the ability to use Microsoft office including advanced Excel and Word

·  Experience of working with and managing external agencies and suppliers

·  Experience of working in a fundraising or Individual Giving environment

·  Target driven, strategic and flexible with a demonstrated commitment to nurture a team

·  Financially literate, with experience of budget setting and performance monitoring through KPIs and management accounts

·  Experience of using a fundraising database

·  Ability to take a hands on approach at times

DESIRABLE:

·  Educated to degree level

·  Experience of using digital channels as part of fundraising activity

·  Experience of managing legacy marketing campaigns
