The Camden Regional Airport Commission, an authority of the City of Camden, Arkansas and the Ouachita Partnership for Economic Development, Inc respectfully submits this application for a grant under the Small Community Air Service Development Program of the Wendell H. Ford Aviation Investment and Reform Act of the 21st Century (AIR-21), P. L. 106-181.

The Camden, Arkansas market area, consisting of a seven county area within a 45-minute drive from the Camden Regional Airport does not have commercial passenger air service, with the exception of the South Arkansas Regional Airport in El Dorado, Arkansas (ELD). The nearest major air service point is Adams Field in Little Rock, Arkansas (LIT), which is approximately 98 miles from the Camden Regional Airport.

The seven county areas consist of Ouachita, Calhoun, Union, Columbia, Dallas, Nevada and Clark with a combined population per the 2000 US Census of 148,477. The County of Ouachita has a population of 28,790 and the City of Camden has a population of 13,154 according to the 2000 US Census.

The Camden Regional Airport is geographically located about 98 miles southwest of Little Rock, Arkansas, 200 miles from Dallas, Texas and Jackson, Mississippi, 125 miles from Shreveport, Louisiana and 100 miles from Monroe, Louisiana. El Dorado is 32 miles from the Camden Regional Airport.

The Camden Regional Airport Commission and the Ouachita Partnership for Economic Development, Inc respectfully request a grant amount of $500,000.00. A combined, dedicated fund of $50,000.00 or ten per cent (10%) of the grant amount requested could be offered as a local share in support of this grant request.
