Item I: Call to Order and Welcome:

Chairperson Amy MacMillan called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm.

Item II: Adoption of Agenda

Motion to adopt the agenda. Mover/Seconder: Cindy Ramsay/JD Gilmour. Motion Carried.

Item III: Previous Minutes/Business Arising from Minutes (Oct 23/12)

One change to minutes of October 23, 2012 under Executive Director’s report add: Mike also reported that Cindy MacLeod had resigned from judges chair. Motion to approve minutes, as amended. Mover/Seconder: Cindy Ramsay/JD Gilmour. Motion Carried.

Item IV: Treasurer’s Report

Lynne Beairstopresented the Treasurer’s report. She indicated that she had received the first payment from Skate Canada. Lynne also indicated that payment has been made to the City of Charlottetown from profits from the Adult Competition. Motion to approve report. Mover/Seconder:Lynne Beairsto/Joyce Arsenault. Motion Carried.

Item V: Committee Reports

A: Data Specialist:

Cindy Ramsay preparing schedules for upcoming competitions. Cindy reported that she attended the recently held Sectionals and it was very beneficial.

B: Awards:

Custom medals have been ordered. Plan is to change lanyards for every year. For STAR ADL the lanyards will have ADL printed on them.

C: Coaches:

JD Gilmour asked that clubs promote the NCCP session to be held around Worlds in London. Also he would like clubs to remind coaches they must be registered.

A discussion was held on reimbursement for training to become a coach. After much discussion the following motion was made by Rose Halliday:

Reimbursement registration fee up to 100% for CanSkate certified and Primary Star for training undertaken off-Island and 50% if training undertaken on Prince Edward Island. Reimbursement will only be given once training is completed and a commitment of participant to coach at least one year on Prince Edward Island. This policy be retroactive to January 2011. Motion seconded by Mary Ellen MacInnis. Motion Carried

Elizabeth MacKay, Joe Perry, Michelle Neill and Lynne Beairsto abstained and did not take part in the discussion.

D: Competitions:

Francyne reported that she is working on the Junior STAR ADL and Starskate competitions and announcements are out.

Michelle Neill raised concern that a lot of competition registration fees are due around the same time and if there was a possibility of staggering or deferring as many families are feeling the financial pressure especially around Christmas. It was discussed and decided that it would be up to each club to make arrangements with individual parents.

E: Evaluators & Judges:

Francyne requested a list of this year’s test days. Mike will contact Shannon to obtain and circulate to Section PEI members as well post on SkateCanada PEI website. It was also reported that Kelly Perry will assist/co-chair Shannon Richards on Evaluators/Judges Committee.

F: Marketing:

Vacant.

G: Membership:

Currently 1448 members registered at this time last year there were 1448 registered members. It was noted that clubs should ensure officials are registered as soon as possible.

H: SkatingPrograms:

Elizabeth MacKay tabled her report.

I: Synchro:

Kelly Richard was unable to attend and her report was tabled.

It was suggested the Sherwood and Charlottetown Skating Clubs contact Skate Canada to correct duplication of team names.

J: Executive Director:

Mike Connolly tabled his Executive Director’s report. Hereported support materials for the new CanSkate program are not ready and will have Julie McNeil check on status. He also indicated that there has been interest in training for CanPower skating course. He will followup and report back at the next meeting.

Mike also raised concern on his time sharing with other sports in particular Cycling PEI. After discussion Mary Ellen MacInnis and Amy MacMillan will meet with Sport PEI to discussion better division of Mike’s time.

K: Technical Director:

Julie McNeil was unable to attend and her report was tabled.

Motion to approve committee reports as tabled. Mover/Seconder: JD Gilmour/Francyne Doiron. Motion Carried.

ITEM VI: New Business

a) Dance Partnering:

Amy MacMillan is coordinating dance partnering for upcoming December test day. If anyone is interested in coordinating this exercise please let Amy know.

b) Club competitions/ADL:

Mike reported he has been receiving questions/requests on club competitions. New CanSkate program has the elements events as opposed to competitions. It was reported that it will be up to clubs to decide if they will have an elements event.

It was reported that Julie McNeil is following up on InterClub. Elizabeth MacKay, Joyce Arsenault and Cindy Ramsay to meet with Julie to discuss.

c) PASS

Mike reported that he is still needs committee funding proposals and that he has only received the Skating Programs proposal.

g) Website Training

Mike Connolly will set up a session for anyone interested in training on the website early in the New Year.
