SIS: New Features

Summary of New Features

Effective August 23, 2010, all of the following new features will be found in SIS:

  • Drop-Down Menus
  • Active Breadcrumbs
  • Disappearing Home Side Menu
  • Additional Favorite Settings
  • Recently Used Page List
  • Grayed out Background withPop-Up Windows *

Drop-Down Menus

Click on desired Menu item at top of page, then mouse over folder items to display subfolders and pages; when you click on an item, that folder or page will display.

Active Breadcrumbs

At the top of the SIS window, the breadcrumb path informs you of your location.

You can use the breadcrumbs to navigate elsewhere where you see the  arrows. Click desired folder level to activate drop-down menu.

Disappearing Home Side Menu

Use the ‘Home’ link to view your side menu.

To keep the side menu displaying,
click the expand/collapse triangles ,
(not the words).

However, as soon as you select a folder or page,
the side menu disappears.

AdditionalFavorite Settings:Folders, Find, and Specific Record

You now need to pay attention to which page you are on when selecting ‘Add to Favorites’.

  • If you are on a Find/Search page,
    a generic search to that page
    will be added to your Favorites list.
  • If you are on a page displaying specific student or course data, those specifics will be stored in your favorite.
  • If you are on a page displaying yellow folders, you can now set a favorite to that folder.
  • Tip: Use ‘Edit Favorites’ & [Delete] if favorites don’t seem to work correctly. Then recreate.

Recently Used Page List

The last 5 pages you navigated to appear at the top of the Favorites menu under the heading ‘Recently Used’.

Click on a page name here to quickly jump there.

Grayed out Background with Pop-Up Windows

When you click Look Up, or get an alert message, the pop-up window has a white background & the main page grays out & is visible behind the pop-up.

New Look

You will notice the following ‘new’ look in SIS:

  • Blueandgray color scheme, with the ACTIVE tab darker blue.
  • Headings more obviously marked.
  • Columnsbetter separated with a line.
  • Rows highlight when point at.
  • New icons display in the upper right corner for:
    Processing, Saving, & Saved

Edit Number of Search Results Displayed

If you want to limit the number of search items returned on a Find/Search page,
enter a lower number here:

Enhanced Search Menu

Type a keyword or phrase of apage you are looking for in the ‘Search’ box on the Home side menu or the ‘Search Menu’ from the Main Menu, pause, and a list of matching entries will display.

When you see a match, select the item in the list,
or click to view the list in more detail and select from there.

Zoom

Some pages with grids display a Zoom button in the row counter.
Click Zoom to enlarge this area and view all; Click [Return] when done.
