Tryouts

When players think of TRYOUTS they automatically compare themselves to others. It becomes a matter of “did I make the top team OR am I better than her?” While these concerns are important, for the most part they are out of the players’ control. Players should focus on the things they can control like their effort, enthusiasm, and skill execution. In most cases the tryout is providing additional information about players that we may have seen during high school or previous club seasons. RELAX, ENJOY, and PREPARE YOURSELF TO COMPETE. ALL TRYOUTS WILL BE HELD AT THE RENO FACILITY 4675 AIRCENTER CIRCLE

Team Selection

Silver State Volleyball Club gives players the option to try out for the team that best fits their volleyball ambitions. When registering for tryouts you will be given five options:
Check Only One Box (Required):

• I wish to play on the best team available regardless of Reno or Carson City
• I wish to play on the best team based in Reno
• I wish to play on the best team based in Carson City
• I wish to play Premier League based in Reno
• I wish to play Premier League based in Carson City

Team Levels

Premier League Teamsare for players looking to improve their volleyball game to become good middle or high school players. These teams play in Sacramento, Reno and possibly one Bay Area Tournament. Practice 3 times a week at the facility where they are based. This is also the level for players that enjoy playing, but do not consider volleyball their main activity.

Power League Teams are designed for players who want a competitive experience and are potentially looking to play in college. Teams based at a location can plan on practicing 3 times a week at that facility.Power League teams are amore demanding time commitment, financial investment and require dedication. These teams will play all over Northern California & Nevada and possibly travel to Las Vegas, Colorado, or Orlando depending on the age group. Power League Teams practice 3 times a week. The top Power League Teams in the 15’s-18’s age groups will practice 2 days in Carson City and 1 day in Reno. The club will help facilitate carpools where possible.

Age Group Options
10’s-12’s: Premier League teams based in Carson City and Reno. We will also have training teams/practice players which will participate in Silver State tournaments hosted at our facilities.

13’s-14’s: There will be 2 levels
1. Premier League teams based in either Carson City or Reno that will play in the NCVA Premier League tournaments in Sacramento. The top 14’s team typically plays in the 16’s Premier League Division.

2. Training teams/practice players that will be based in Reno or Carson City and compete ONLY in SSVC tournaments at our facilities.

15’s-18’s: There will be 3 levels of teams

1) Top Power League Teamswill practice in both Carson City and Reno made-up of the best players in the age group and will compete in Northern California & Nevada and possibly travel to Las Vegas, Colorado, or Orlando
2) Power League teams based in either Carson City or Reno will play in NCVA Power League events but ONLY practice at one facility
3) Premier League teams based in either Carson City or Reno will play in the NCVA Premier League events held in Sacramento.

16’s/10th grade / Sunday, November 8th / 2:00 PM / 3:00 PM-5:00 PM
17’s-18’s/ 11th-12th grade / Sunday, November 8th / 9:00 AM / 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
15’s-18’s MAKE-UP Must make arrangements in advance / Monday, November 9th / 5:30 PM / 6:30 PM-8:30 PM

Players that are injured or participate in the Nevada State Tournament MUST register and attend tryouts, but may choose not to participate
NOTE: Players will be placed on teams based on their team selection choice, skill level, and grade. Teams will be formed with athletes of close or equal skill level as possible. Players will be placed on teams above their grade level based on if they will be a significant contributor and will help them achieve their volleyball goals. FOR EXAMPLE: A 16 year old playing on a 17’s or 18’s team will face tougher competition and potentially hurt her recruiting options. There might also be significantly reduced playing time which may not be best for the athlete.
Tryout Procedure

TRYOUTS FOR THE CARSON CITY AND RENO TEAMS WILL TAKE PLACE IN RENO

1)Players can register online at

2)When players arrive at the facility for tryouts they will need to check-in and pay for the tryout if that has not been done online

3)Players will then proceed to the Registration Clerks to have photo and receive tryout T-shirt

4)Players will then go to the “Metric Station” for measurements and physical testing

5)Players will then proceed to the “Shopping Station” to get sized for their uniform and player equipment package. This will also be open after the tryouts

6)Players will then proceed to the court for the tryout warm-up starting at the time listed for the age group

7)Teams will be announced within four hours of the end of the tryout and posted at the facility. The team will be put online within a few days.

In accordance with Northern California Volleyball Association, players may verballycommit to their spot but are not officially able to commit through the Letter of Commitment until6:00PM on November 16th. This hold true for all clubs under the NCVA.
