Position Title: Food Service Manager

Reports To: Camp Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Seasonal

Salary: $375-400/week

Date: June 5th-Aug 12th

General Responsibilities:

Coordinate and supervise all aspects of the camp food service operations.

Specific Responsibilities:

·  Insure that the camp’s food service operations are carried out in a manner which meets GSUSA and federal, state and local health standards;

·  Prepare and conduct pre-camp and in-service camp food service training to prepare the staff, the site and the program to best serve the needs and expectations;

·  Create weekly menu’s to be approved by Council staff and Camp Director;

·  Know, practice and carry out the council emergency procedures in relation to the camp site and programming;

·  Order or supervise the ordering of food, supplies and equipment needed for food service operations within the limit of the budget provided;

·  Maintain or supervise maintenance of all food service records and reports;

·  Cook or supervise the cooking of all meals and special events;

·  Coordinate the operation of cookouts, snacks, special dietary considerations and special events;

·  Supervise the development of routines, schedules and procedures to insure a coordinated camp food service operation;

·  Conduct an inventory of program supplies at the start and end of the camp season and ensure supplies are stored properly;

·  Assign staff activities and responsibilities to insure food service operations are continued without interruption;

·  Open, clean and prepare food service areas for use;

·  Help provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and well-being throughout the camp;

·  Supervise and evaluate, or supervise evaluations of all food service operations including inventories, staff evaluations and recommendations for the following season;

·  Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

·  Ability to communicate and work with groups participating and provide necessary instruction to campers;

·  Ability to observe camper behavior, asses its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures and apply the proper health care techniques;

·  Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the setting;

·  Ability to observe camper behavior, asses its appropriateness, and enforce appropriate procedures when necessary;

·  Ability to use commercial kitchen equipment, use the telephone, order supplies, drive to pick up supplies and to transport campers and staff;

·  Ability to lift/ unload/ move food and supplies up to 50 pounds;

·  Ability to communicate and train staff to carry out their roles in the food service setting.

Minimum Qualifications:

·  Minimum Age: 21;

·  Posses Current Idaho Food Supervisor Certificate;

·  Current adult and child CPR and first aid certifications;

·  At least two years of camp food service experience;

·  Ability to recruit, hire, train and supervise food service staff;

·  Ability to view all operations with the health, safety and satisfaction of campers as the first priority;

·  Ability to drive, with a current license acceptable to the State of Idaho;

·  Willingness to be a representative of Girl Scout of Silver Sage Council and promote the ideals of the organization as denoted in the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
