Shueyville City Council Meeting – August 8, 2017

Mayor Coonfare called the regular monthly meeting of the Shueyville City Council to order at 6:34pm on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 in the council chambers at the Shueyville Community Center.

Roll Call:Coonfare, Foss, Frisk, Neuhaus, andLacy. Absent: Anderson

Lacymotioned, seconded by Neuhaus to approve the Consent Agenda consisting of the Agenda,July 8, 2017Minutes,Summary List of Claims,Licenses, and Treasurer Report. All Ayes, motion carried4-0.

Business: Motioned by Frisk, seconded by Neuhaus to approve the secondreading of Ordinance #43, Sub-division water tank requirements.Roll call vote. Ayes: Foss, Neuhaus, Frisk, Lacy.Nays: none. Motion carried. Motioned by Lacy, seconded by Foss that the laws and rules providing that ordinance be considered and voted on for passage at two council meetings prior to the meeting at which it is to be finally passed be suspended and dispensed with and that Ordinance #43 be place on its last reading. Roll call vote. Ayes: Neuhaus, Lacy, Foss, Frisk.Nays: none. Motion carried. Motioned by Neuhaus, seconded by Frisk to place Ordinance #43 upon its final passage and be adopted. Roll call vote. Ayes: Lacy, Frisk, Neuhaus, Foss. Nays: none. Motion carried.Ordinance #43 adopted.

Motioned by Foss, seconded by Lacy to approve the second reading of Ordinance #42, Zoning-Sign Ordinance. Roll call vote. Ayes: Neuhaus, Foss, Lacy, Frisk. Nays: none. Motion carried. Motioned by Lacy, seconded by Foss that the laws and rules providing that ordinance be considered and voted on for passage at two council meetings prior to the meeting at which it is to be finally passed be suspended and dispensed with and that Ordinance #42 be place on its last reading. Motioned by Frisk, seconded by Lacy to approve the fringe agreement request by Johnson County and Michael Cooper for the rezoning. All ayes, motion carried.

Discussion was held about the utilities lines for South James Avenue project. Motioned by Foss, seconded by Neuhaus to approve electrical relocation cost of up to $12,000.

No comment for additional members wanting to attend the IA League of Cities Annual Conference.

Discussion was held forFireworks Ordinance.Council requested Chad at ECICOG update current ordinance and propose one with limited days to explode, time, and fines. Tabled till next month.

Discussion was held about the City’s Investment opportunities. Clerk will contact Swisher Bank, Exchange State Bank, IPAIT, and City’s financial planner Speer Financial for recommendations.

Correspondence, Announcements & Comments:Letter-Curtis Bridge Rd, when will it be fixed? Mayor will respond to home owner and forward a copy of the letter to Jo. Co. Board of Supervisors.
