SHOW PONY CLASSES
RING 5 STARTING 11AM SHARP

21 Open Lead Rein Class: – For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 123 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 8th birthday on the 1st January of the current year. Ponies must be shown in snaffle bridles. They must be led by persons aged 16 years and over and should be on a loose rein and will be required to trot. The attendant must affix the lead rein to the noseband on which it must remain while the pony is in the ring. The rein must go directly from the bit to the rider’s hand, with no extra aid or attachment to or on the saddle. Riders will not be asked to dismount. Riders in this class may not compete in any other class at the same show on the same day with the exception of any other Lead Rein Class and the 1st year first ridden.
22 Confined Local Lead Rein Class: - No prize money - Plaques for 1st, 2nd 3rd Rosettes for all – In this class the judge will be looking for a suitable local lead rein pony. This class is confined to ponies and riders stabled and resident within 20 miles of show grounds. For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 138 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have attained their 3rd birthday but have not attained their 12th birthday on the 1st January of the current year. Ponies must be shown on snaffle bridles. THEY MUST BE LED BY PERSON AGED 16 YEARS AND OVER and should be on a loose rein, and will be required to trot. 23 Open Show Hunter Pony Lead Rein: - – For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 123 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have attained their 3rd birthday and not attained their 8th birthday on the 1st January of the current year. Riders in this class may not compete in any other class at the same show on the same day with the exception of Lead Rein Class and the 1st year first ridden class.
24 1st Year First Ridden: - For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 123 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 9th birthday on the 1st January of the current year and must be in their first year in First Ridden Classes of any category. No cantering allowed except for individual performances. Ponies must leave the ring at a walk or trot. Riders in this class may not compete in any other class at the same show on the same day with the exception of Lead Rein Class.
25 Open First Ridden: - For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 123 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 10th birthday on the 1st January of the current year. No cantering allowed except for individual performances. Ponies must leave the ring at a walk or trot. The same combination of pony and rider may not compete in any class for ponies exceeding 123 cms at the same show on the same day.
MINI CHAMPIONSHIP: Confined to 1st & 2nd prize winners (Class 21, 22, 23, 24, & 25 ), The Champion shall receive the Perpetual Seamus Madden Heating & Plumbing Shield .

Rules & Conditions
v There are 12 qualifiers throughout the 32 counties.
v The final will take place at he IPS Championship Show, Cavan which is held on the 31st July and 1st & 2nd August, 2014.
v This qualifier is judged as a separate class – it is recommended that there is an entry fee of €10.
v Competition to be judged as the mare and foal combined.
v The judge/steward must complete the marking form for each mare and foal in the class, 50% marks for the mare, 50% marks for the foal. The winner is the mare/foal combination with the highest marks out of 100.
v If mares do not have a current height measurement the may be measured at the finals.
v This final is open to all mares 153cms and under. Foals must be by a named pony stallion 153cms and under.
v Once qualified a mare and foal combination cannot enter a subsequent qualifier.
v A qualifying rosette will be available on show day for the winner.
v The result sheet with the winner’s details must be filled out on the show day. The runner-up must also be recorded in the event of the winner being unable to attend the final.
v All mares must be registered with the Irish Pony Society on the day of qualification.
v All owners of qualifying animals must be current Irish Pony Society members on the day of qualification.

Rules & Conditions

36 Open Intermediate Show Hunter:- For mares or geldings 4 yrs and over, exceeding 148 cm but not exceeding 158 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by rider who has not attained their 25th birthday on the 1st January of the current year.
37 Open 153 cms Show Hunter Pony: - For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, exceeding 143 cms but not exceeding 153 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 20th birthday on the 1st January of the current year. The same combination of pony and rider may not compete in any intermediate class at the same show on the same day.
38 Open 143 cms Show Hunter Pony: -For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, exceeding 133 cms but not exceeding 143 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 17th birthday on the 1st January of the current year.
39 Open 133 cms Show Hunter Pony: -For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, exceeding 123 cms but not exceeding 133 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 14th birthday on the 1st January of the current year.
40 Open 148 cms Show Pony Riding class: - For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, exceeding 138 and not exceeding 148 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 17th birthday on the 1st January of the current year.
41 Open 138 cms Show Pony Riding class: – For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, exceeding 128 cms but not exceeding 138 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 15th birthday on 1st January of the current year.
42 Open 128 cms Show Pony Riding class: – For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 13th birthday on 1st January of the current year.
NOTE: CLASSES 40, 41 & 42 may be amalgamated if less than 3 entries in the class
43 Registered Pure bred or Part bred Ridden Connemara Class: - Ang age.
44 Mountain & Moorland/Pure Bred Ridden Class:- For ponies,mares or gelding, 4 years old and over. Mixed heights. May be divided if sufficient entries.
45 Confined Local Ridden Class: – Prizes in Kind - This class is confined to ponies and riders stabled and resident within 20 miles of show grounds. Height not exceeding 148 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 16th birthday on January 1st of the current year.
46 The Young Handler Class:- is for ponies, 4 year old and over, to be shown In Hand by children from two age categories:
Entry Fee €10 for Class 46a & 46b - Prizes 1st €30, 2nd €20, 3rd €10 for Class 45a & 45b. This class is not included in Championship.
46a 7 to under 13 years on 1st January of current year
46b 13 to 17 years on 1st January of current year
Handlers must wear the correct dress, with the correct jacket, for their chosen category, including the recommended hat. The above classes are to be judged on the ability of the handler to present and show the pony to best advantage. Ponies entered in these classes must also be entered in their relevant riding classes on the same day. The marking sheet will include the type of pony i.e. Show Pony and Show Hunter Pony.
RIDDEN PONY CHAMPIONSHIP: - Champion to be selected from 1st & 2nd prize winners (Classes 37,38,39,40,41,42,43, 44 & 45) champion shall receive the Sycamore Sunshine Perpetual Cup and this will be presented by Dr Deirdre Verling & sash, Reserve Champion reserve rosette.

WORKING HUNTER PONY CLASSES
RING 3 STARTING 12 NOON APPROX
Prizes: 1ST €40, 2ND €30, 3RD €20, 4th €10 - Pre- Entry - €12- ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED ON THE DAY WITH A €5 SURCHARGE PER ENTRY
Body protectors are compulsory in ALL Working Hunter Pony Classes for riders under 16 years on 1st January of current year but may be removed in Phase 2.
47. Combined Intermediate Working Hunter Class:- For mares or geldings 4 yrs and over, exceeding 148 cm but not exceeding 158 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by rider who has not attained their 25th birthday on the 1st January of the current year.
48.Combined 153 Working Hunter Pony Class: - For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, exceeding 143cms and not exceeding 153 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 20th birthday on the 1st January of the current year.
49. Combined 143 Working Hunter Pony Class: - For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, and exceeding 133cms and not exceeding 143 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 17th birthday on the 1st January of the current year.
50. Combined 133 Working Hunter Pony Class: - For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 133 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 14th birthday on the 1st January of the current year.
Riders cannot compete in both combined 133 working hunter and working starter stakes. They must opt to be either working hunter or starter stakes. Combinations may not compete in class 51.
51. Combined Working Starter Stakes: – For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 133 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 12th birthday on the 1st January of the current year.
