Short presentation of activities, agreements and participants concerning

the IFT-I-IN Daphne Project - 1st of October 2005

The Daphne Project IFT-I-IN is founded by the Somali Women Organisation in Denmark (SWOD) represented by chairman Ambara Hashi Nur.

The Daphne Project IFT-I-IN has as its objective to empower ethnic women, promote their health and thereby prevent FGM and other lifestyle-related diseases. The project aims to promote the women’s knowledge, attitudes and capability to make radical changes in their life-conditions thereby promoting “equality in health” among ethnic women in Europe.

Special empowerment tools such as Forum-theatre, drama, music and comics are used in order to reach the beneficiaries and the public in new ways. Performers and “project ambassadors” will be ethnic women with different stories of life and of different age and nationality.

The IFT-IN-IN project is formed as a close cooperation between the Danish Steering Organisation and trans-national partners from ITN (UK) and FSAN (NL)

The project will be running over the next two years - from June 2005 till June 2007 and is planned to close with a major conference in DK including all partners and participants.
