Final Organisation – to see how the teams are selected to play one another and the order of matches please see Finals Organisation – this is now available on the website. Anyone without an email address should have been sent this information with this letter.

Badminton England Registration: All players must have active registration to Badminton England on the day of the tournament. Players who do not have active registration will have all matches annulled permanently.

Rank Order – a list of players, ranked in order for singles, doubles and mixed, must be sent with the team nomination form by the date requested on the invitation to the final.

Only the pairs that team managers intend to use in the doubles and mixed rankings should be sent.

If a new doubles pairing is used, the ranking of the new pair becomes binding. The rank order will be scrutinised (supporting evidence may be sought), and may, if necessary, be changed by the Organiser.

If a team plays a player or pair out of order, one game will be awarded to their opponents 21-0, this to be the ‘higher numbered’ game in the relevant discipline. (Therefore, a player ranked as 1, playing in-correctly at number 2 would have the match annulled, while the result of the player playing at number 1 would stand.)

A Match will comprise 20 games – 4 x Mixed Doubles, 4 x Boys Singles, 4 x Girls Singles, 4 x Boys Doubles, 4 x Girls Doubles and. All games will be one game to 21 points, no setting; change ends at 11. The format is exactly the same as a normal Shires League match, except that the matches are ONE game to 21 points, instead of best of three games, (N.B. U12 SL matches are best of 3 to 15 points.)

Where a team cannot field a full side, the ‘highest numbered’ games will be those to be conceded first, (eg boys’ singles 3 will be conceded before boys’ singles 2.)

Team Composition - when a team comprises 5 boys and 5 girls, every player need not play in every match.

Knocking Up - players must be ready to play when called. Knocking-up will be limited to 2 minutes before each game; players must not leave the court between the knock-up and the start of the game.

Order of Play: mixed, singles then level doubles.

Substitutions in a Match are permitted if a player becomes incapacitated after play has begun, subject to:

·  The Organiser agreeing that any such substitution does not contravene the Tournament rules

·  The Manager of the opposing team being notified of the substitution.

You will usually have the use of 3 courts to play your match, consequently you may nominate up to three persons as coaches who can go onto courts for up to 90 seconds when players change ends at 11. When you are given the opportunity to use an additional court, you may nominate one extra temporary person to assist in the coaching of players on the additional court.

Match and Group Winners will be determined using the following criteria:

Match:

1.  The County that wins the most games

2.  The County that scores the most points

3.  The County that wins the majority of the games 1BS, 1GS, 1BD, 1GD, 1MD

2.  The County that wins the most games

3.  The County that wins the most points
