President’s Message:

So my wishful thinking for an early spring does not seem to be working. However, the warmth and friendship felt during our recent Wine and Chocolate New Member Recruitment Program was enough to make us forget about the snow and cold outside. Laughter (and wine) filled the room, as well as the craziest animal sounds…. Thank you to the committee members who worked hard to organize and make this night very special and to those of you who contacted and brought guests as potential new members. The testimonies from Roz, Rosie and Laura were wonderful…who wouldn’t want to join Zonta after that. I believe we will be handing out a lot of yellow roses to new members during our installation program in May. Until then we will be busy with our quickly approaching AAUW/Zonta event on Friday, March 6th, shortly followed by Lunafest on Saturday, April 18th. We are in need of volunteers for Lunafest and have several areas identified to use your help. Don’t forget about International Women’s Day/Rose Day coming up on March 8th. Tell all those important women in your life how special they are to you and I’m sure hugs would be welcomed. Stay warm.

Peace to you,

Bonnie

Of Interest:Pillows and Banners for Lily’s Hope

Attached is a photo with Jefferson Middle School students and teachers: Mrs. Corey and Mrs. Hochman, who's classes made pillows for Lily's Hope, and created the banner behind them on the wall out of yellow sticky notes with messages of encouragement and hope for the cancer patients that visit Lily's Hope!

Don’t Forget:

Mark your calendars now and join us on the Saturday AM Breakfast Party on the Radio on Sat. April 4th to plug the LUNAFEST!! We need all hands on deck. It's 8:30am to 10am at Friendly's in Brooklyn Square, Main St. Jamestown.

A Note from the Program Committee:

First, thanks to all of you who contributed to our Wine and Chocolate new member recruitment program in February by inviting your friends to join us and by your presence that night. We can be very proud of ourselves for how we represented our club as a group of hard working, dedicated but also fun loving and friendly women. We welcomed 15 potential members with an additional two who were unable to attend but will join us for a meeting at a later date. Hopefully we will see many of them join our ranks this year.

And it’s March already. We have another very interesting program planned for this month. Greg Peterson will be joining us on March 18th to talk about Women on the Supreme Court. He is such a knowledgeable person about the law and history. His talk will certainly be full of interesting information about the women who have attained this pinnacle in their career. So, please join us to meet Greg and hear what he is going to share.

See you there,

The Program Committee

Follow up on our New Member Event:

Please follow up with your guest to see if they'll join us for next Wed's March 4th meeting (and beyond)! And Don’t forget: fees for membership are waived until May for next year!

APRIL SHOWERS:

The United Way will be providing “April Showers” for programs that serve babies and toddlers. We would like to donate to the program. Articles to donate include: fitted crib sheets, swaddled blankets, sleep sacks, pacifiers, thermometersetc. Stay tuned-more information coming!
