Study Group ULP Meeting Tuesday November 13, 2012
PM1 session
Chair (Shahriar Emami) called meeting to order at 4:00 pm.
Chair presented the Opening Report to the group. DCN number of the document is “15-12-0592-00-004q”. Chair asked the group to approve meeting minutes of meeting held in September 2012. The DCN of the meeting minutes is “15-12-0549-00-004q”. Motion to approve moved by Steve Jillings (Semtech), seconded by Corné van Puijenbroek (RF Consultants BV). Motion approved anonymously.
Chair presented the Agenda to the group. DCN number of the document is “15-12-0593-00-004q”. Chair asked the group to approve. Motion to approve moved by Steve Jillings (Semtech), seconded by Corné van Puijenbroek (RF Consultants BV). Motion approved anonymously.
TaeJoon Park (ETRI) presented the Korean 917 MHz unlicensed band for RFID and ubiquitous Sensor Networks, DSN “802.15-0624-00-004q”. After a brief discussion, the Chair asked TaeJoon Park to post a clarification regarding relation with PAR.

Bob Heile informed the Study Group that the PAR has looked at the PAR. The Study Group needs to revise this purpose statement. The current text was briefly discussed.

Study Group ULP Meeting Wednesday November 14 2012
AM session
Chair called session to order at 08:08.
The response of IEEE802.11 on 5C 3a and 5C 3b and of Paul Nikolich on the Purpose was presented. The required changes to the current purpose statement paragraph in 5C were discussed. The chair proposed to approve the modified purpose statement. Motion to approve moved by Corné van Puijenbroek (RF Consultants BV), seconded by Kiran Bynam (Samsung). Bob Heile filed the 15.4q comment responses as “DSN 15-12-644-00-004q”
Guido Dolmans (IMEC) presented his proposal on FSK and PPM modulation, “DSN 15-12-634-00-004q”. After some discussion Guido also presented a proposal on FSK modulation for 15.4n, document “DSN 15-12-623-00-004n” which he had presented in TG4n yesterday.
Meeting was recessed at 10:00.

Chair called Study group to order at 13:39
Rick Powell (MicroSemi) re-presented his proposal from yesterday’s session “DSN 15-12-587-00-004q” and the presentation was discussed in more detail. Several opportunities for energy saving were identified.
Rick Powell (MicroSemi) has the intention to present a tradeoff for encoding (FEC, spreading) and modulation versus power impact at our next meeting in Vancouver.
Steve Jillings (Semtech) will ask Pat Kinney (Kinney consulting) to present a summary of the changes in TG4k at our next meeting in Vancouver.
Rehgu Regan (MicroSemi) will do a presentation on energy harvesting at our next meeting in Vancouver.
Rick Powell (MicroSemi) intends to do a presentation on use cases at our next meeting in Vancouver.
The chair intends to send out a Call for Applications after the Study Group has been approved as Task Group.
Meeting was recessed at 15:30.
