EDRN80 – 280
SEW-EURODRIVE offers new ATEX / IECEx-compliant motors
Bruchsal, Hannover Messe 2017: SEW-EURODRIVE is launching the new EDRN80 – 315 explosion-proof motors, which comply with both EU Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX) and IECEx.
Although only South Korea and the USA have regulations specifying the minimum efficiency of explosion-proof motors, SEW-EURODRIVE feels it has a responsibility towards the environment as a market leader in drive technology and has developed motors in the IE3 efficiency class.
Category 2 / EPL b motors (EPL = Equipment Protection Level) with protection type Ex eb are suitable for use in gas zone 1 and with protection type Ex tb for dust zone 21.
Category 3 / EPL c motors with protection types Ex ec and Ex tc can be used in zones 2 and 22 respectively.
In conjunction with the motors complying with HazLoc-NA®, which have been available since 2016, SEW-EURODRIVE provides motors up to 200 kW for global use.
It is now releasing the EDRN80 – 315 motors for sale. These motors can be operated on the grid or on a voltage-controlled frequency inverter (V/f, VFC) and are available with IP55, IP65, IP56 and IP66 protection. The EDRN.. motors (IE3) are generally no larger than an IE2 motor with comparable performance. Because the motors are based on the proven DRN.. series, the usual short delivery times and fast service are possible.
Benefits:
-The motors complying with ATEX / IECEx have the same technical properties.
-Key options such as brakes, encoders or forced cooling fans are now also available with IECEx certification.
-Line, switched and inverter operation allow them to be used for virtually any application.
-Use of the standard brake on the line motor guarantees fast, high availability.
-The clear power and size assignment makes it easier to select the right motor.
-The comprehensive series – from 0.18 to 0.55 kW in the IE1 efficiency class as EDRS.., and from 0.75 to 200 kW in the IE3 efficiency class as EDRN.. – covers the standard power range.
-The motors meet the requirements of EU Directive 2014/34/EU and the internationally recognized IECEx agreement.
-The necessary certification processes were conducted by the globally renowned PTB (German Federal Office of Engineering Physics at Brunswick).
-With a wide range of options – including all of the important ones such as brakes, encoders and forced cooling fans – the motors can be used almost anywhere.
-The brakes’ technical data are adapted to the specific requirements of explosion protection and confirmed by the certification.
-The motors are available as gearmotors with tried-and-tested gear units complying with Directive 2014/34/EU. This means that the mechanical components can also be included in the explosion protection, even if the international regulations do not require them to be.
-Availability in the IP55, IP65, IP56 and IP66 degrees of protection and surface protection up to OS4 simplify selection and make it easier to meet the application requirements.
