Seventh Grade Carowinds Field Trip

Dear Parents:

The seventh grade is going on a field trip to Carowinds to celebrate Education Days on Friday, May 4, 2012.The cost is $35.00 for students and adult chaperones. This includes transportation, admission, and mandatory t-shirt fee.We will leave school about 9:30am and will return to campus at approximately 6:00pm.Please arrange pick up for your children at that time. All students will be required to ride the bus to and from the park, even if parents are chaperoning. The price for students and adult chaperones currently holding a season pass is $10.00, which covers transportation and t-shirt.Season pass holders are reminded to bring their season pass on that day.Should the cost of the trip be prohibitive, and your child wishes to attend, please contact his/her home base teacher to arrange financial assistance. If you would like to sponsor a student needing assistance, please contact your child’s home base teacher.Payment is due no later than Friday, April 13.We can ONLY accept CASH for payment.

Seventh grade is challenging for our students, so we want to reward our seventh graders for a job well done. While both the students and the teachers are excited about the field trip, academics must be our priority as we approach EOGs and the end of the school year. All students will be expected to maintain certain academic and behavioral standards in order to participate.

Academically, your child must maintain a passing grade in ALL classes for the fourth quarter.Your child will be given the opportunity to make up missing work to bring their grade up to a passing grade.Missing work will be accepted until the afternoon ofMonday, April 30!At that time, any student with a failing (F) grade in any class may be excluded from the field trip. In addition, all students are expected to have all library and cafeteria fines paid off by April 30th.Unfortunately, we will not be able to refund your money after tickets have been purchased.

Behaviorally, beginning Monday, March 26th, your child is given a fresh start. No prior behavioral issues will be counted against him/her.However, students are expected to demonstrate appropriate behavior at all times.Any student receiving an office referral resulting in an administrative suspension may be denied the opportunity to participate in the field trip.Again, refunds will not be possible.

Additionally, we will need parent volunteers to chaperone the trip.We need two to three parents per home base.If you are interested, you MUST be a CMS approved parent volunteer. If you wish to become a volunteer, you may register by going to .Follow the quick links at the top of the webpage.Click on Volunteering and then click on the Register to Volunteer on the right side of the page and follow the instructions.
