03. House Keeping/ Announcements / Updates:
• Estelle Shelley reported on 50\50 Rugby. Over $4500 was raised over the three evenings. Thank you to all members and friends of Rotary who helped out.
Estelle would like to propose that the membership discuss whether we can use the money raised through Rugby 50/50 as seed money to develop rugby in the local community. Money must follow gaming regulations. Suggestions discussed include creating a rugby bursary for local students. Or a bursary to support some of the Rugby Canada players who are attending local universities. Many receive only minimal funds while they play for the team. The club will consult with Rugby Canada for other suggestions. This will be discussed at the next executive mtg.
· Next executive meeting has been changed to Oct 30, 6:30 pm at Heather’s home. All are invited. Directions: (Off Metchosin Road, turn left onto Duke Road west (2nd Duke Road before golf course), right on Cliff Road, left on Circle Road.)
• Art and Wine festival update
Date for Festival is Sunday, July 28, 2013. Russ Lazaruk will inform members when next meeting is to be held.

It was suggested that we have Bob Beckett speak to the Interact group about the Haiti project to give them an immediate project to be involved with. Bob Beckett is heading to Haiti in Nov

06. Guest Speakers / Presentation
Because of the short time remaining Carl McLean deferred his talk to a later date. He will contact Allan to arrange a date in January.
The members asked Todd Silverthorn questions about upcoming events through Rugby Canada
Todd said that due to the successful fan response to the past tournament, they hope to once again hold the Canada’s Rugby cup in Langford next year.
Todd helps players in the Rugby Canada team who are coming into the community to find housing, and get set up in the community and help them be self-sufficient and find ways to support themselves. These players are all dedicated, responsible athletes working to achieve Olympic level who can find it difficult to make ends meet at times because of their schedule. Most are also attending university.
Many are looking for support for part-time employment and any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
