Setra TopClass 500 Series

With its Euro VI engine, aerodynamic design, reinforced vehicle body and equipment that redefines luxury, Setra’s new generation 500 series of the TopClass family is becoming the flagship of travel fleets.

Designers worked at both impressive lines and aerodynamic build for the exterior design of the new generation TopClass. As a result, a brilliant design with a drag coefficient of 0.33 Cd, a record number for a coach, was created. The character element which extends across the vehicle “LaLinea”, new BiXenon lamps, dashboard design and vent grilles with floating lines are just a few examples of its prominent elements. Expanded front entry, leather vent covers and luxurious voyage supreme seats to a premium journey. Optional TopSky glass ceiling adds a unique atmosphere to journeys.

Setra’s six-cylinder in-line engine developed by Mercedes-Benz, which complies with the Euro VI standard and produces 476hp (350kW), offers the drivers a unique power and traction. In addition to a more productive combustion in the Euro VI engine technology, the vehicle consumes less fuel and produces less emission. Alongside the redeveloped aerodynamic design, the vehicle body that automatically lowers itself at high speed and many other innovations optimize the fuel consumption.

Equipped with an extensive array of active and passive safety systems, Setra TopClass provides top class security. Setra ComfortClass safety systems already meet the ECE-R 66/01 requirement which will be compulsory in Europe in 2017 with its following features:

  • The new “Front Collision Guard – FCG 2”, which protects the driver by absorbing the impact during front collisions,
  • Electronic Stability Program – ESP, which provides stable and safe driving.
  • ABS, which prevents the wheels from locking during braking,
  • ASR, which prevents the drive wheels from spinning and allows them to lift without spinning even in hard conditions,
  • Electronic Brake System – EBS, which reduces the brake distance by providing quick response,
  • Electronic Level Control, providing high quality handling,
  • FPS (flexible programmable-control system) that reduces in-vehicle wiring and ensures effective data communications,
  • Disc brakes, which provide more powerful and homogenous braking works in front and rear wheels,
  • The redesigned reinforced vehicle body,

The indicators that provide easy control in the driver area, ignition with start-stop switch, bi-zonal air conditioning and electrical portable monitor provide the necessary conditions for a comfortable journey.

Tire pressure monitor (TPM) constantly monitors the tire pressure and identifies the level and the tire in case of pressure drop to increase safety and also helps reduce running costs.Multi-functional key (MFK) makes a difference by sending the critical data of the vehicle to the driver.

On the other hand, Setra ComfortClass coaches provide greater ride comfort for the passengers which will go beyond all expectations, with its following features:

  • “Voyage Supreme” seat upholstery
  • Heated and illuminatedwing mirrors
  • LED daylight running lamp
  • LED spot lamps and optional ambient lighting
  • Kneeling feature

TopClass 500 series, three-axle 14 m length S 517 HDH model is equipped with a six-cylinder in-line engine, complying with Euro VI standard and producing 476 hp (350 kW). This model, which has a seating capacity for 54 passengers, is waiting to take its place in the platforms.
