OPPORTUNITIES FOR VOLUNTEER TRAINING

SOUTHEAST DISTRICT 4-H VOLUNTEERS CONFERENCE

The Southeast District 4-H Volunteers Conference is held annually to provide educational opportunities of Oklahoma 4-H Volunteers. Traditionally held in April.

Objectives

Provide learning experiences beyond the boundaries of the county.

Provide opportunities for volunteers to learn through sharing ideas and experiences with other volunteer from throughout Oklahoma.

Provide volunteers and county extension staff access to resources that are not available at the county level.

Who Can Participate

Participation is open to all 4-H volunteers, 4-H parents, resource people, Extension agents and other interested individuals.Teen leaders and members are also given opportunities to participate in some aspects of the conference as determined by the planning committee. These opportunities may include participation in mini-fair displays and talent programs.

State 4-H Volunteers Conference

Held annually to provide educational opportunities and recognition to Oklahoma 4-H Volunteers. Traditionally held in July.

Provide learning experiences beyond the boundaries of the county.

Provide opportunities for volunteers to learn sharing ideas and experiences with other volunteers throughout Oklahoma.Provide volunteers and county extension staff access to resources that are not available at the county level.Provide appropriate recognition to leaders who have provided outstanding service to the Oklahoma 4-H program.

Who Can Participate

Participation is open to all 4-H volunteers, 4-H parents, resource person, extension agents and other interested individuals.Teen leaders and members are also given opportunities to participate in some aspects of the conference as determined by the planning committee. These opportunities may include participation in mini-fair displays and talent programs.

Southern Region 4-H Volunteer Leader’s Forum

This Forum is held in October in Rock Eagle, Georgia. Volunteers from 13 states participate in a week-long training program. The trip is usually made by bus. Seminole county volunteers have attended this forum and found it to be very beneficial.

Provide learning experiences beyond the state level.

Provide opportunity for volunteers and professional staff to share ideas and experiences with others from across the region. Build stronger working relationship between volunteers and Extension staff.

Who Can Participate

Participation is open to any adult 4-H volunteer, parent, person interested in learning about leadership, volunteer roles, and the 4-H program. Priority is given to counties with volunteer/staff teams who have submitted workshop proposals.

Requirements

CountyTeam should submit proposal including purpose, objectives, and number attending. Proposals are due July 15 and notification of approval will be August 1. Individual reservations are due August 1.Individuals and teams are expected to present a workshop at the county or state level upon return home.

Cost

There are scholarships available for county teams. Also, there may be additional funding from the State 4-H Office. All other expenses are the responsibility of the volunteer.
