Session 312: Laurel Parnell

·  Thanks Laurel for all the great reminders of why I love doing this work! You “way of being” with clients modified protocol most matches my nature and trust the process inclinations as a therapist.

·  Awesome videos.

·  I think you need to put more disclaimers in your presentation. You didn’t add the patient transference that results when a patient wants the therapist to heal her/him. You approach could be dangerous and a disclaimer would have put your presentation in a proper perspective.

·  The handouts as they provided didn’t include the pictures, so there were a lot of blank spaces when I printed them. Thanks for a great presentation.

·  Excellent presentation. Loved the videos! Thanks for validating the use of an adapted model. Fits what I’ve been doing! J

·  Very interesting way of changing protocol when necessary.

·  I absolutely love Laurel’s work – what an incredible resource to our EMDR community. Thank you!

·  Would have liked more content and attachment technique and considerations for more dissociative DDNOS and DID clients.

·  More video clips of shorter length.

·  Appreciated the creative interviewees shared.

·  Thank you. This workshop was so affirming to what I do with clients.

·  EMDRIA: Listen up – this woman is what EMDR is really about. Her insights on how to apply and adapt it are the best I’ve ever seen in 4 years of coming to his conference.

·  Felt resource of tapping in “mother” alone with photos was a gender bias.

·  Excellent!

·  Demonstration videos were very helpful! This workshop helped me to understand what has kept me from using EMDR as much as I could. Many of my clients have complex trauma and the standard protocol is often disruptive to the relationship. This will help me to do better work.

·  Very helpful!

·  I wish there had been more on dissociation and methodology re working with dissociation and in the center of the attachment work.

·  Excellent workshop! Thank you!

·  Laurel is a great presenter and apparently, an excellent therapist.

·  Laurel is a beautiful presenter; however, there was not enough depth or advancement of the material presented – the material was not what I expected when I signed up for this. I hoped for more.

·  Loved the video! I loved seeing a different way – freedom. Thanks!

·  An excellent workshop! She is a compassionate and scorner therapist. The best! This is the workshop I found most useful so far.

·  Awesome: helpful, liberating, I felt totally accepted as a therapist.

·  Excellent session! Laurel is a wonderful speaker who goes the extra mile to help people understand the material. The best part was that we got to see the video in its entirety instead of editing out the actual BLS. Wonderful example of how long and what to expect.

·  Great! Loved the video. I found this very helpful. Would have been a good plenary – most useful informative for me than what was scheduled.

·  This was the best training! Very well presented with just the right balance of lectures and videos – which was excellent! Dr. Parnell is a very effective and I intend to buy all her books. J

·  Great presentation!

·  Excellent!!

·  Excellent teaching: video, great slides… a true professional!

·  Helpful, encouraging, reassuring, focused, organized. Yeah! ++++

·  Thoroughly enjoy this presentation. Info was relevant, useful and most importantly, easy to understand. Thank you!

·  Much of this workshop was very helpful. Her videos while demonstrating technique, didn’t add attachment in the way that I had hoped.

·  This was enjoyable to listen to. She made it user friendly! I will use her stuff.

·  Excellent videos! The videos are so important and really made the training.

·  Excellent presentation style – clear, compassionate, extremely knowledgeable. Content somewhat repetitive and thin for a full day workshop.

·  Appreciated long, uninterrupted and helpful video!

·  No time for more questions.

·  Excellent presentation! Loved the video.

·  Great presentation videos, especially for EMDR therapists!

·  This was the single most helpful workshop I’ve attended in several years. Laurel is a great presenter who attunes her audience, is so well organized and disciplined that she covered all of the material she planned and we expected. The long video showing an entire session are SO helpful and served as a great model. Thank you!

·  Video clips were a little lengthy.

·  Videos were great! Would like to see a live demo.

·  Video clips, while outstanding, were excessively long.

·  Videos were very helpful!

·  Laurel was wonderful and I learned SO much. Loved the video examples. The PPT handouts matched Laurel’s PPT slides – I really appreciate this! Thank you!

·  Excellent presentation. Thank you!

·  Thank you for the videos – incredibly helpful.

·  Very good presentation!

·  Laurel is a great presenter. Clear on all levels – audiovisual and presentations. This was too basic! This is level 2 info! This is not intermediate or advance.

·  Thank you! The videos were so helpful!

·  Video of childbirth repair could have been cut down to lapse through the BLS and crying.

·  Video after lunch would have been better than hours of talking – too tired to take in that much.

·  More videos rather than reading of slides would be helpful.

·  Good presentation for intermediate and folks trained before 2007.

·  This seemed more a beginner’s, intermediate, not advance workshop.

·  This was the most helpful workshop! I feel freer – something about your style is closer to where I am/want to be. Also, really helpful interviews, I can do pretty comfortably! Thank you!

·  More mindfulness re: use of heterosexist language when referring to families /partners.

·  Focus more on advanced concept vs. basic EMDR skills.

·  Excellent clinical skills taught.

·  None of the videos showed how this works with chronically traumatized/unattached clients.

·  Delightful, useful, terrific – info and presentation!

·  Thank you for all your work and knowledge behind.

·  Heteronormative language when referring to parents/families.

·  Great presenter: bright, warm, experienced, intuitive.

·  Excellent session – Laurel was a great presenter. Engaging, bright, easy to follow. Handouts helpful, great videos. Thank you!

·  Excellent presentation! Visual video of a session was very helpful.

·  I found the workshop informative, and on target! However, the material is more at an intermediate and not an advance level.

·  It would have been helpful for newly trained therapists.

·  The videotapes of Laurel’s work were extremely helpful to me.

·  Having a video to illustrate techniques was very helpful.

·  Good video.

·  Great info! Important! This information fills in a VERY important area.

·  Amazing. Thank you!

·  I found it very helpful to see entire processing sessions! However, found the presentation a bit repetitive and more at on an intermediate level.

·  Excellent! Clear! Humorous! Moving! Feel like it is the best reflection for me regarding how to use EMDR in a whole, integrated, skillful and intuitive way. Thank you!

·  The presentation was very well presented. It was organized and flowed well. I also really learn from observing the whole video from start to finish.

·  Wonderful! So reassuring and liberating. Keep Laurel coming back.

·  Really liked full session videos rather than tiny clips. Terrific presentation!

·  This was a great use of session time!

·  Best training so far! Thanks!

·  It would have been helpful to hear more about resource installation with these clients, especially the pitfalls.

·  Thank you so much! Wonderful session! J

·  Amzing! Love the relational approach! So heart-centered and authentic.

·  Provocative content. Well presented.

·  Very, very useful and helpful approach.

·  From an AIP perspective there is no need for modification of the protocol in the way described in this workshop. Pacing of material was very slow.

·  Loved those videos. Great clinical material but misquoting EMDR standard protocol.

·  Outstanding! This was the best workshop I attended this conference! This is my favorite EMDR annual conference and I wish I had seen Laurel’s workshop years ago. This should be at each conference.

·  Good use of videos.

·  Exceptional. Best session of my whole experience. Very skillful presenting info as presented at registration. Clearly presented information that corrected erroneous guidance in previous conference. Very integrative strategy!!

·  The first 12 minutes sounded like a commercial for the presenter. We don’t need to see the video in real time – edit! Not advanced material.

·  Good presenter and presentation – organized, clear, concise, good videos.

·  Include more video clips in presentations!

·  Excellent!

·  In the handouts it would be able to have scripts for the modified protocols.

·  Laurel was an excellent presenter – confident, resourceful, skilled and attuned to her audience.

·  Thank you, Dr. Parnell, for validating my intuitive practices. Thanks for valuing client above protocol.

·  Presenter was excellent! Have her again at the conference, please!

·  Usage of “good” and “bad” may trigger parts.

·  Excellent!

·  Not enough time for questions. I really liked her video demos of the techniques.

·  Fantastic didactic and videos – the fruit will never be forgotten!

·  Appreciated the quotations.

·  The presentation was very thoughtful, but dry. I would have liked to have some examples of the concepts interviewers into the info. I would have enjoyed practical examples to flesh the theories out. I thought the connections to bringing the body into the healing process was great.

·  Demo and practice was invaluable.

·  Excellent.
