Dear Student/Parent/Guardian:
Your daughter/son will have many opportunities as a senior in the Health Careers Academy Program during the 2013-2014 school year. The Health Careers Academy is designed as a rigorous program of study for the motivated student.
Our curriculum will include exploration of the various roles of healthcare providers, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, with emphasis on the disease process, and basic clinical skills. The required textbooks for the medical terminology course can be purchased at Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center at a cost of $73.95.
Opportunities to observe healthcare delivery in clinical settings will be provided. The students will be required to wear uniforms in the classroom and for all site visits. In addition, lab coats may be required to be worn during clinical rotations. A full uniform package includes:
- Two (2) navy flare pants
- One (1) navy scrub top
- One (1) white polo shirt with the school logo
- One (1) white lab coat with the school logo
- One (1) each of hemostat, scissors, and a pen light
Students are expected to be in uniform by September 30,2013.
The price of the above uniform package is $118.15 for females and $110.50 for males. Information for purchasing the required uniform package from MP Nursing Apparel will be provided the first week of school.
Students will also be required to have a physical examination, a 2-step PPD (tuberculosis screening), receive an influenza vaccination, and complete a criminal background check. A drug screening will be required at a later date. These requirements are dependent upon the policy of the clinical setting we may be utilizing. Please have the above completed except for the drug screening prior to the first day of school. The necessary paperwork is enclosed.

Included in the uniform package pricing is an onsite fitting scheduled at a date and time convenient to the college and program. A sufficient time period will be allotted based on the class size. Your account manager will bring additional MP staff members to assist in the fitting determined by the class size to ensure an efficient and timely fitting. We understand the student’s first priority is their education.
For uniform delivery, MP will bag each student’s order individually with their name clearly written on the outside of the bag and boxed in alphabetical order for easy distribution. One bulk delivery will be made to the college. For large group orders, we allow 4 to 5 weeks for processing.
Students unable to be at the fitting must contact 610-797-6900 x405 (Jessica) or x309 (Caitlin), immediately to place an order for uniforms. If received in a timely fashion, the order will be processed and delivered with the group order. Any student needing uniforms after the group order has been delivered may contact us at the above numbers to order uniforms and will be required to pay an $11.99 flat shipping fee and will receive their uniforms to the address they provide.
There will be a 25% restocking fee charged for returned merchandise and must be returned to either of our retail locations within 10 days of receipt. All embroidered merchandise is non-returnable.
