APRIL

April starts on the same day as July and ends on the same day as December every year. The birthstone for April is the Diamond and the birth flower is the Daisy or the Sweet Pea. It is known as National Humor Month and also National Pecan Month. Days to celebrate include: International Jugglers’ Day (can be celebrated as Multi-Tasking Office Workers’ Day) on the 18th; Easter falls on the 20th this year followed by National Jelly Bean Day on the 22nd. The 24th is Take Your Daughter to Work Day; and all the animal lovers out there can celebrate World Penguin Day on the 25th.

WELCOME TO OUR NEW E.D.

The Board of Directors of the Fremont County Group Homes is pleased to announce the hiring of our new Executive Director. Jeff Verosky comes to the position with years of experience working with youth and as an administrator. Elissa Burleson, FCGH Board President says that, “Jeff is exactly what we are looking for in an ED. He is compassionate and dedicated to youth and their families but also has the much-needed skills to efficiently and effectively run our program both fiscally and programmatically.” Jeff will start full time at the Group Home June 16th, but he is spending time now to get acquainted with the staff and the program.

CONGRATULATIONS

Betty Porter has been promoted to Program Director for the Group Homes. Her responsibilities are to assure the smooth running of the homes, assure our residents are being served to the best of our abilities and work with the new Executive Director on all pertinent matters concerning the Group Homes. Betty has been an important part of the Group Homes for over three years. We are happy to have her.

BATHROOM PROJECT UPDATE

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but at the Group Home it seems it takes a village to fix our bathroom. Dave Goodman, a former Resident Manager at the Group Home, did all the repairs to the bathroom and it looks wonderful. This is a picture of the new shower that isn’t moldy and doesn’t leak all over the floor. Again we want to thank First Interstate Bank for their most generous offer of $1,000; to Ace Hardware for their donation of a new light fixture; to Bloedorn Lumber for the cement board and thin set; to Gales for the floor tile, grout and adhesive; and to Lander Dental Group, Kister Eyecare, Linda Bebout, John & Gretchen Vincent, Charles & Cheryl Rodgers, Ron & Patricia Kopriva, B.P.O. Does-No. 48, Knights of Columbus and Frontier Forest Products for their cash donations.

SPRING BREAK

The kids used spring break from school to stay busy and have lots of fun. They went fishing, where they caught their first fish of the season; hiking; picnicking; swimming and even some spring cleaning at the Group Homes. It was back to school to get some R & R.
