Vehicles:It is expected that buses with a minimum of 33 seats will be required for most journeys unless otherwise stated for scholars journeys. However, sufficient capacity must always be provided to meet passenger demand. There is no minimum requirement for vehicle quality, subject to compliance with the PSV (Accessibility) Regulations 2000 (SI 2000 No. 1970).

Bidders should state clearly the make, age, euro rating and seating capacity of the vehicle(s) intended for use on the service and the nature of any DiPTAC features. Bidders must satisfy themselves that the vehicle types proposed to be operated are suitable for the route in advance of submitting bids, particularly in respect of operation via Portloe.

Through tickets (single or return) and return halves of standard day return tickets issued by any operator between any two points on this route must be accepted for travel at no further charge.

The operator will be expected to put in place the necessary arrangements for sale and acceptance of Ride Cornwall tickets.

Ticketing Equipment :This contract requires the successful operator to have ITSO compliant, Smartcard enabled ticket machines and appropriate back office systems to fulfil management of same and provision of data to the Council as required by the contract.

RTPI :This contract requires that the successful operator is capable of providing SIRI data to the Council’s Real Time Passenger Transport Information (RTPI) system which has been fitted to a number of stops in the operational area of this contract.

School Flows :On all journeys all seats not used by the general public within the capacity of the vehicle you offer are to be available to the Council for conveyance of scholars having valid passes issued by the Council at no extra cost.

Bus Stations :Not applicable to this contract.

Timetable :A suggested timetable for this contract follows based on the current service provision. Bidders must satisfy themselves that the timetable proposed is realistic and achievable in advance of submitting bids.

The existing operator will continue to operate at times outside those specified, consequently only minor variations to these times will be acceptable where these do not affect the clock face nature of the timetable.

Where ‘C’ is indicated next to a time on the timetable it means connection to/from a commercially operated journey and consequently there is no scope for alternative timings.

Bank Holiday and Christmas / New Year Arrangements

On Bank Holidays where operated a Sunday service is to be provided.

Normal service to resume on the 2nd January each year except for year when New Year’s day falls on a Sunday when a Sunday service should be provided on the 2nd January.
