Organisational Context
Territory Generation is a Government Owned Corporation that was formed in 2014 as part of the Northern Territory Government's reforms to the electricity market. We are a Northern Territory Government entity that produces more than 2000GWh of electricity a year using gas, diesel and solar technologies to power Territory towns and cities. Our vision is to safely, reliably and efficiently generate electricity to meet the needs of our customers and to sustainably contribute to the lifestyle and development of the Northern Territory.

RoleResponsibilities
The Senior Network Engineer provides specialist network communications advice and services in relation to the development, installation, management and maintenance of the Territory Generation’s CISCO network across the Territory.
Specific Duties include:
1)Providing advice for capacity planning and upgrades in relation to the CISCO network across the Territory.
2)Design, configure and implement CISCO network solutions in accordance with customer requirements.
3)Maintain the Territory Generation’s WAN (Wide Area Network) and LAN (Local Area Network) switching environment, including planning and installing enhancements, upgrades and hardware.
4)Diagnose and resolve complex technical problems (i.e. requiring a high degree of specialist knowledge) in consultation with clients, staff, external service providers and vendors, Liaise with vendors to determine solutions for problems.
5)Identify new ways of operating and procedures to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness and client service. Identify, develop, recommend and implement improvements in consultation with other stakeholders.
6)Work closely with Territory Generation stakeholders and system owners on multi-disciplinary teams to determine requirements and identify technical and operational issues.
Participate in skills sharing and cross training with other members of the team.
Selection Criteria
Essential
1)In depth knowledge of specialised software and hardware relevant to CISCO networks including the design and configuration of CISCO Network solutions.
2)Sound knowledge of CISCO switching, routing and firewalls.
3)Good working knowledge of SCADA systems and their network requirements.
4)Extensive knowledge of Local and Wide Area Network communications, protocols, topology, design and architecture.
5)Highly developed oral and written communication skills, with an ability to modify information delivery to suit particular groups including end users, stakeholders and IT contractors.
6)Good skills in systems analysis, including user requirements, technical specifications, constructions, implementation and maintenance.
7)Sound understanding of Information Management Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
8)Proven ability to make sound judgements and to exercise initiative, discretion, confidentiality and problem solving at the delegated level of responsibility.
9)Strong ability to liaise with stakeholders to identify system needs and problems and develop and appropriate response to those needs and problems.
Desirable
1)Territory qualifications in business, information technology, public sector management or similar
2)Industry accreditation in relevant software and associated systems and technologies.
3)Members of appropriate professional organisations
