Job Purpose: / To maximize income to Concern Worldwide (UK) from gifts in Wills by managing and implementing the legacy marketing programme to deliver on strategic growth targets,as well as helping to successfully implement CWUK’s Direct Marketing strategy, growing income from individual cash and regular giving supportersand increasing the pool of potential legators.
Main duties & Responsibilities: / Legacy Fundraising(65%)
  • To implement a cross-organisational legacy marketing strategy to meet strategic growth targets (circa £1 million).
  • To develop and implement a central programme of communications (both internally and externally) to maximise the number and value of legacies left in favour of Concern Worldwide UK, ensuring activities are delivered on time, on brand and on budget.
  • To manage the stewardship and cultivation of pledgers – implementing an appropriate communications programme to nurture long term relationships
  • To work across all departmentsto influence and ensure legacy fundraising is integrated across teams, overseeing training, development of toolkits and identify opportunities for promotion of gifts in Wills
  • To liaise with the communications team to deliver optimum publicity and exposure for all individual giving in memory and legacy activities, including management of supporter events to promote gifts in Wills.
  • To manage all administration linked to the legacy program, to include liaising with executors (personal and professional) and next of kin, seeking legal advice where appropriate,maintaining records and paperwork and making effective use of the legacy module on the database.
  • Work with the Individual Giving Manager to develop and implement the legacy fundraising annual plans and budgets
  • Play an active part in the charity sector to inform the overall legacy programme – including monitoring materials and marketing activities, keeping abreast of best practice and codes of practice, attending groups and presentations and representing Concern at any relevant sector consortia.
Direct Marketing(35%)
  • To contribute to the strategic direction of the Individual Giving Team and to the development of the annual departmental operational plan.
  • To monitor and report on budgets for all activities and assist in building future expenditure and income targets. Work as part of the Individual Giving Team to reach strategic targets.
  • Assisting with the development of Concern UK’s regional fundraising program (recruitment & development) in the regions where there are different target markets and levels of brand awareness.
  • Management of activity for the recruitment and development of regular givers and cash givers, utilising a variety of channels that could include (but is not limited to): Direct Mail, Telemarketing, Online, SMS, Inserts and Press.
  • Working with the Direct Marketing Manager to identify and develop new initiatives and income streams.
  • Full campaign management and execution in line with prescribed deadlines. To include: briefing suppliers such as creative agencies, fundraising agencies and mailing houses, sourcing/development of materials, briefing data analyst on data selection criteria and devising the ask strategy, creative development, managing the approvals process, proofing, briefing supporter services, campaign analysis and reporting, managing costs and invoice processing.
  • To work closely with the Data Analyst to review direct marketing campaigns and ensure that information is used to maximize income for future campaigns.
  • To work with the Individual Giving Team to implement, and where necessary review the Emergency Fundraising Strategy
  • To manage relationships with external agencies including the recruitment, selection and monitoring processes, negotiating on contracts where applicable.
  • Work closely with Donor Care in NI, UK fundraising department, IG team in Dublin and other UK departments to ensure integrated working and consistent messaging.
Other
  • To undertake other tasks and duties as may reasonably be requested by the Direct Marketing Manager or Director of Fundraising.
  • Ensure all Concern UK communications follow the current Data Protection and charity legislation guidelines (Charity Commission, IOF, FRSA, DMA, TPS).
  • Travel to meetings in Dublin & the UK where necessary

Person specification: / Essential :
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in a fundraising/direct marketing environment.
  • Proven experience of developing and implementing cross-organisational legacy programs.
  • Experience of managing two or more of the following activities: Direct Mail, Telemarketing, Online, SMS, Inserts and Press.
  • Experience of developing strong relationships with external suppliers to deliver successful direct marketing campaigns.
  • Strong planning skills, with the ability to deliver multiple projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong IT skills including experience of working with excel to carry out complex campaign analysis and demonstrable understanding of campaign segmentation and testing to enhance campaign performance.
  • Proven experience in developing strategy, operational plans and complex budgets.
  • Good knowledge of the legal environment within which we operate (Data Protection, Gift Aid).
  • Understanding and experience of managing donor/customer relationships.
  • Experience of using a database for fundraising /direct marketing.
  • Demonstrable analytical skills and highly numerate with experience of keeping and monitoring financial records.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work to a very tight deadline in a dynamic environment with often changing priorities.
  • Sound knowledge of competitor activity.
  • Willingness to travel to Dublin and to the UK offices in London/Belfast and Glasgow.
Desirable
  • Experience of working for an International development/emergency response organization.
  • Experience of working across regional teams and across an array of fundraising disciplines.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification (i.e. marketing qualification).
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
