Senior Fundraiser,East of Scotland

Purpose:To maximise all forms of income and support for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland within the East of Scotland and any other assigned areas of responsibility*, and develop public awareness of CHSS and its aims; To develop new areas of income and support in the East of Scotland

To line manage and provide a leadroleto any assigned supporter team members in the East of Scotland and report to Supporter Fundraising Manager on their progress and performance;

Location:CHSS Head Office

Hours:Full time (32.5 hours per week)

Salary:£23,082 - £28,680 (NJC Scale Points 27-34)

Main Responsibilities are to:

promote and encourage fundraising within the community, including developing new areas of income & support; make the most effective use of fundraising resources in the East of Scotland through appropriate use of face-to-face meetings, presentations, etc;provide telephone-based support and advice to people raising funds for CHSS and develop long-term relationships with them;develop corporate fundraising under the guidance of the Supporter Fundraising Manager;

manage and develop any assigned programmes and areas of responsibility*;

line manage and provide a lead role toassigned team members in the East of Scotland; report their progress and performance on a regular basis to the Supporter Fundraising Manager; contribute to their appraisal process;

recruit, work with and develop CHSS ‘Ambassadors’ in the region,in order to enable community fundraising to be as effective as possible, ensuring Investors in Volunteers standards are maintained;

support the Supporter Fundraising Manager in the provision of events; develop the supporter fundraising and events strategy with the team;

use the ‘Raiser’s Edge’ fundraising database to manage all potential and realised fundraising contacts across all programmes;

deliver effective media relations and marketing, working with the Fundraising Design & Marketing officer and CHSS PR department to mutual advantage; work with any other marketing resources effectively;

ensure compliance with any relevant Institute of Fundraising Codes of Practice, across all programmes and areas of responsibility;

build and maintain links with CHSS staff & volunteers;play a full part in the workings of the charity at supporter and organisational level and have a good knowledge and understanding of the work of other departments;

ensure compliance with all accounting procedures for the recording of income, current legislation and CHSS administrative procedures;

and any other duties as directed by the Supporter Fundraising Manager.

Measures of Performance:

Fundraising:

  • Achieve assigned targets (financial or otherwise)
  • Management and development of any assigned events and special programmes
  • Development of relationships within the supporter community
  • Development of corporate fundraising relationships
  • Raise CHSS profile with local media

Teamwork:

  • Support for supporter team members in the East of Scotland
  • Quality of feedback given to Supporter Fundraising Manager on team’s performance
  • Scale of recruitment, development and retention of ‘Ambassadors’ in the area
  • Contribution to strategic development of the team
  • Contribution to the department
  • Development of relationships with CHSS staff and volunteers
  • Understanding of the work of other departments of the Charity
  • Appropriate judgment and use of diplomacy when representing the department internally

  • Clarity of oral and written communication
  • Demonstration of cost control, knowledge of relevant IoF standards & CHSSprocedures;
  • Productive use of time, prioritising the workload effectively

Person Specification:(all criteria are essential unless otherwise indicated)

Qualifications / Experience:

  • A proven track record in fundraising and/or sales and marketing
  • Experience of supporting and/or supervising team members
  • Institute of Fundraising Membership(preferred)

Competencies:

  • A good communicator (face-to-face, presentations, etc) withthe ability to create and maintain relationships using a variety of media
  • Excellent telephone manner, written style
  • Highly developed negotiating skills and an innovative approach to fundraising
  • Good time management skills and attention to detail
  • IT literate
  • Self-starter, willing to work alone as well as part of a team
  • The commitment and tenacity to drive fundraising forward

Other:

  • Willingness to travel throughout Scotland and often work unsocial hours, including evenings, weekends and overnight stays
  • Current manual driving licence and access to own transport
