Seminar for Eye Clinic Staff and those working in an ECLO type role

This one-day seminar is an opportunity to forge links between those working in an eye clinic whether it is in a help-line capacity, eye clinic liaison officer, volunteer role or as a full-time worker, from any organisation.

The aim of the day is to discover how we all work towards the same objectives, enabling patients and carers to understand and come to terms with sight loss, whilst appreciating the different methods used to provide this service.

The seminar will offer delegates the opportunity to hear from speakers working the field of eye health, covering a wide range of topics which will be relevant to those workers offering early intervention.

This is also anopportunity to meet informally, share experiences and best practice, and form strong networks with others providing a similar service.

Who should attend?

Those working in health and social care providing a front line service to patients within an eye clinic or by helpline, including: nurses, non RNIB group/ RNIB group eye clinic liaison officers (ECLOs) informationdesk officers and volunteers.

RNIB Evidence and Service Impact Team booking conditions

Please read carefully

Training bookings are accepted by RNIB on the following conditions.

These conditions form an integral part of the Agreement between the Purchaser and RNIB. Throughout this document the Purchaser means the organisation or individual named at the head of this Agreement as requiring a training service, and RNIB means Royal National Institute of Blind People, being the service provider in this instance.

  1. Equal opportunities

RNIB is committed to the application of equal opportunity principles in the provision of its Training Service. This means that we undertake to operate non-discriminatory practices or attitudes within our service delivery.

RNIB can provide copies of training materials in alternative formats at the same cost as print versions. Formats include large print, Braille, or text on computer disc. The Purchasers shall determine the needs of its trainees in this respect, and to give RNIB a minimum of 28 days notice of such requirements, details are on the booking form.

  1. Course cancellation

If the Purchaser finds it necessary to cancel a booking, the following charges will apply:

Cancellation more than 30 days / No fee will apply
Cancellations within less than 30 days of the due date / One third of the direct training fee will apply
Cancellations within less than 14 days of the due date / Two thirds of the overall charge will apply,
Cancellations within less than 7 days of the due date / The full charge will apply

RNIB cannot be held responsible if a service cannot be provided on the scheduled date due to factors outside its control, such as industrial action or travel difficulties. No financial recompense is possible, and the service will be rescheduled within 6 months to an alternative date of mutual convenience to both parties.

The situation may rarely arise where RNIB is unable to provide the agreed service due to factors for which it is responsible, in this case the Purchaser may elect either to terminate the agreement, or require RNIB to provide a similar service within 6 months on an alternative date of mutual convenience to both parties.

  1. Trainee support and safety

The Purchaser is responsible at all times for the needs and safety of trainees it invites to attend the courses described within the Agreement. This includes selection of trainees appropriate to the stated aims and learning objectives, and the provision of adequate pre-course information.

The Purchaser shall indemnify RNIB or its agents against any claims for personal liability howsoever caused, and be responsible for the provision of adequate personal risk insurance.
