Objective: To research a business or company that interests the student, and provide an overview, history, and vision of the company.

Point Value: 100

Due Date: December 7, 2014

Details:

Choose a company that interests you, and write a report/summary. The report should include the following information:

§  Company Name, location/address of company headquarters

§  Company history – how did the company get started

§  Company Stock Symbol **(if it is a publicly owned company use www.msn.com; go to the money section– in class demonstration)

§  Company stock profile: (if it is a publicly owned company)

§  Current trading value (the day you begin your report)

§  52-week high and low

§  Company Mission Statement

§  Product Line

§  Locations

§  Expansion (is the company local, regional, international?)

§  Major competitors

§  Recent News

§  Employment Information

§  Ownership structure – is the company a franchise? Are there any key people seated on the Board of Directors?

Written Report: The written report is expected to be 2 pages in length, double-spaced. The report will be graded in the following areas:

§  10% Organization – well-organized, easy to follow, logical sequence

§  10% Formatting – use of headings, charts and graphs, etc.

§  10% Citation – are sources cited correctly – no plagiarism

§  10% Grammar –free of spelling and grammatical errors

§  60% Content – is the report interesting and compelling to read?

Reference Material: You are required use at least 3 resources for your project, the company web site may be one of those sources. You may also use the Gale Business Insights database available at the

MPCC online library: http://mpcclibraries.notlong.com

A new window should open, and you can enter the company’s name or the industry to find resources.
