SELF-ASSESSMENT for PLAR for a Course
Overall process
- On the Course Outline, look at the Course Learning Requirements (CLRs), and the listing of sub-statements on each CLR or the table of ‘Embedded Knowledge and Skills’. Cut and paste them into this‘Self-Assessment Worksheet’.Think about where you have learning that relates to the stated knowledge and skills, and mark how proficient you think you are, according to the rating scale. You will need to be confident that you can prove you have the specific knowledge and skills through evidence submitted in a portfolio, or other method of assessment that is required by your Program.
- Reflect on the results of your Self-Assessment.
- If you score yourself at Satisfactory or Excellent for 75% of the Course Learning Requirements (CLRs), you could be a good candidate for PLAR and should take the next step. Contact the PLAR Administrator.

Step 1: Course Learning Requirements (CLRs)
Directions: Read the CLR statement and the related sub-statements or ‘related embedded knowledge and skills statement. Reflect on your own prior learning and current capabilities, and complete the following self-assessment.
- Score yourself on each of the CLR statements (consider the ‘Embedded Knowledge and Skills’ statements for a CLR -or subskill elements of a CLR – and average your ratings on them). See samples at the end of this document following template.
- Mark down your overall score for that CLR. You may wish to note some items you might be able to use as evidence of this learning if you proceed with PLAR.
- Complete the same process for each CLR.
Note: Expand this table if the course has a greater number of CLRs or Embedded Knowledge or Skill statements.
