Site Name: Tununak Traditional Council (TTC) Tank Farm

Descriptive Location: The Tununak Traditional Council tank farm is located near the northeastern end of the village of Tununak.
General site description, with brief history of use:
TTC tank farm is an inactive fuel storage facility. According to residents the tanks were in operation from the early 1980’s to the mid 1980’s or early 1990’s. The tank farm consists of two vertical aboveground tanks within a containment area constructed of dirt berms. The storage tanks are welded steel construction and rest on platforms constructed of wood planks. Presence of an impermeable liner could not be determined. Each bulk fuel storage tank has an approximate capacity of 8,800 gallons, with a total storage capacity of approximately 17,600 gallons.

Potential or suspected contaminants (or wastes containing contaminants):
Oasis: None of the analytical results from samples collected from the TTC tank farm indicate soil contamination in concentrations exceeding 18AAC75 Method Two Under 40 Inch Zone cleanup levels for DRO/RRO or GRO/BTEX. A small amount of surface contamination exists beneath piping joints, but is not significant enough to exceed the proposed cleanup levels. Sample results from this site indicate that significant contamination at this fuel facility is not present.
Nature of Contamination: According to the residents the tanks were in operation from the early 1980’s to the mid 1980’s or early 1990’s.
