Danny Cordes Memorial Explorer Competition

The Mansfield Police Departmentinvites you to attend our Second North Texas Competition in memory of fallen Mansfield Officer Danny Cordes. This 1 (one) day competition will take place on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Legacy High School located at 1263 N Main St, Mansfield, TX 76063.

Registration:

Registration forms and fees are due by May 25, 2018. We will accept fees during the registration/check in time on the day of the competition if pre-arranged. Posts/teams failing to pay will not compete.

All Advisors, Explorers, and Observers are required to sign a liability/medical waiver. The form may be turned in during registration/check on the day of the competition. Anyone failing to submit a waiver will not be permitted on campus.

Fees:

Registration fees are $300.00 per team (4 Explorers and 2 Advisors), only 2 teams per post. The registration fees include a competition t-shirt, lunch, and dinner. Additional Advisors or Observers are $30.00 each. Money orders and post checks are preferred and made payable to Explorer Post 1601.

Check In:

Check in will begin on Saturday morning (June 9, 2018) at 0630 a.m. Advisors will be given a competition packet with a schedule, map, and meal wristbands. Receipts will be given upon request.

Scenarios:

Each team will compete in 4 scenarios (2 scenarios before lunch and 2 after). Scenarios are scheduled to last between 30-45 mins, with time for pre-event instruction and post event review.

Meals:

Lunch and dinner will be served (wristbands are required).

Awards:

Plaques and Medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded for each scenario to the top three teams. Only one plaque will be awarded per top scoring team. Each Explorer on that team will be awarded medals. The team who has the overall top score will be awarded a Grand Champion trophy. The awards ceremony will begin at the conclusion of dinner.

Uniforms/Equipment:

Post duty (Patrol) uniforms are mandatory, including some physical events. Some events take place outside so be prepared for all weather conditions. Explorers should have all necessary equipment (handcuffs, handcuff case, flashlight, traffic vests, etc.). Explorers are permitted to use any items their post supplies with the exception of any disqualifiers listed below or if the event does not allow.

Disqualifiers:

Explorers will not bring any chemical device, Taser device, batons, guns (including simunitions), knives or any other weapon. Plastic, rubber and wooden guns are allowed. Any Explorer caught with any of the above listed items will cause their team/post to be disqualified.

Grievances:

If an Advisor had a grievance, problem, or question about the competition and/or scenario, it will be addressed. The competition host Advisors will review the grievance/complainant and their decision will be final. Grievances are requested to be brought up within 60 minutes of the completed scenario.

Adult Participant or Parent/guardian and child/ward releases from liability and hold harmless the Mansfield Police Department (and its representatives), Mansfield LE Explorer Post 1601 (and its representatives), Mansfield Independent School District (and its representatives), the Boy Scouts of America (and its representatives), Learning for Life (and its representatives), the Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association (TLEEAA), and any other organization or volunteer associated with this competition for any damages, personal injuries, claim demands, or suits.

We agree that this consent shall constitute a bar to any recovery or claim made by myself, us or our child/ward against theMansfield Police Department (and its representatives), Mansfield LE Explorer Post 1601 (and its representatives), Mansfield Independent School District (and its representatives), the Boy Scouts of America (and its representatives), Learning for Life (and its representatives), the Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association (TLEEAA), and any other organization or volunteer associated with this competition for any damages, personal injuries, claim demands, or suits.

We authorize and release all multimedia obtained during this event involving myself or child/ward. This includes, but not limited to, photographs, video, or publications to be used or displayed by the Mansfield Police Department (and its representatives), Mansfield LE Explorer Post 1601 (and its representatives), Mansfield Independent School District (and its representatives), the Boy Scouts of America (and its representatives), Learning for Life (and its representatives), the Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association (TLEEAA ).
