Dear Mr Ralph,

Further to your recent request for information on procedures and assessments relating to the removal of children from their parents.

A.The policies and procedures which relate to social services removing children from the care of their parents.

See attached extracts from Children’s Services procedures.

B.The criteria which has to be fulfilled to make a child eligible for being adopted out of a parents care

Children can only be placed for adoption if the Council have a placement order granted by the court or in the case of relinquished babies sect. 19 and 20 consent forms of the Adoption and Children Act signed by both parents.

C. What psychological assessments are used on the parents? (or other assessments) and a copy of a blank version.

The Council uses a number of other assessment forms including the following:-

You should note that the Council does not carry out psychological assessments though a court may order these as part of the care proceedi
