Recent Highlights
A female victim was able to escape from a suspect attempting to sexually assault her. She fled to a nearby fire station and called the police. The suspect was positively identified and arrested shortly after the call.
Third Precinct Officers responded to a call about a women attempting to jump off the 26th Street Bridge onto 35W. They were able to grab her with the help of a bystander and pull her to safety.
Officers spotted and arrested a suspect who had been identified in a robbery on 27th and Cedar shortly after they were dispatched to the call. They recovered a weapon on the suspect during the arrest.
As part of the 3rd Precincts efforts to address the ongoing street level crime in the area around Chicago, Columbus and Park Aves. along Franklin; we’ve had a series of meetings with the business owners at Chicago Crossings. We are setting up a system for them to trespass unwanted people from their property, working with them to get more light on the west side of the mall on Columbus and working to help them form a business association. We have also identified two problem properties on Park Ave. One of the properties has been condemned and must be vacated by mid-January. The owner of the other is meeting with us in an effort to address concerns about the property.
