Section II – Adherence to Implementation Standards
1) Describe how a Born Learning Academy will align with your School Improvement Plan.2) List the names and titles of the school staff persons, their roles and levels of responsibility in fulfilling and adhering to the Implementation Standards of the Born Learning Academy. Please itemize the individual responsibilities of each staff person involved.
3) Please identify any and all Implementation Standards (Section IV) to which you may have difficulty adhering. Explain your plan to address this.
4) List the name(s) and title(s) of the school staff person(s) who will be responsible for data entry and outcome reporting to The Education Alliance.

Section III – Timeline

Section IV – Implementation Standards
The Education Alliance will provide:
· Three trainings per year (first training will be in May – other trainings location and time TBD)
· Born Learning Academy materials or other relevant materials
· Pre/Post surveys to be completed for each session
· Training and networking opportunities with state implementation partners
· Content and measurement experts to analyze pre/post data in support of continuous quality improvement
· Yearly updates to the educational series, surveys, etc. for improvement measures
The Academies will:
· Be located in the local school
· Begin with a dinner and a greeting from the Coordinator and/or Facilitator
· Provide child care for children of participants
· Provide quality door prizes as incentives to increase attendance
· Include an introductory activity and pre‐survey
· Include a brief lecture that outlines knowledge related to the topic of the evening
· Provide modeling by the Facilitator of the concluding activity
· Conclude with an activity in which participants can apply knowledge from the previous lecture and Facilitator modeling to their own children
The School will provide a letter from the Principal indicating:
· His/her support
· How he/she will engage the school staff
· The schools commitment to identify an Academy Coordinator and Facilitator for implementation at their school
· In‐kind or monetary support for Born Learning Academy (i.e., PTA, Title I Parent Involvement, business partnerships, etc.)
· A plan is in place to help inform, recruit and enroll families in the Born Learning Academies
· A commitment to keeping Born Learning Academy families engaged until their child enters kindergarten and beyond
· That the Coordinator and Facilitator will attend 3 trainings per year (first training will be in May – other trainings location and time TBD)
· He/she will attend an orientation about Born Learning Academy and will attend his/her site's graduation
· Understand and support that the same person or persons will serve as the Academy Facilitator for all 6 sessions. If guests or visiting experts are invited, extra time may need to be added to the end of the session to explore these resources
The Academy Coordinator will:
· Underscore and inform school staff that Born Learning® is a trademark of United Way Worldwide, Civitas and the Ad Council. Born Learning Academy or Born Learning® materials may not be modified or altered in any way.
· Host a visit from grantor
· Attend 3 trainings per year (first training will be in May – other trainings location and time TBD)
· Make copies of parent materials (notebooks will be provided by The Education Alliance)
· Meet with Facilitators to explain the basis of Born Learning Academy
· Provide and review the Facilitator Guide with the Facilitator
· Review training materials (“Workshop Format” and “For the Facilitator” sections of the binder emphasizing the objectives, agenda, Facilitator role, and any information highlighted in yellow along with the pre/post surveys)
· Review the Born Learning Academy website: www.educationalliance.org/bornlearning
· Assist Facilitators in making connections between the handouts provided to parents and caregivers and the key objectives/ideas
· Arrange for Facilitators to observe one Born Learning Academy session presented by an experienced Facilitator
· Understand and support that the same person or persons will serve as the Facilitator for all 6 sessions. If guests or visiting experts are invited, extra time may need to be added to the session to explore these resources
· Be required to use pre/post surveys (will be provided) and collect data and explain procedures to Facilitator
· Utilize sign‐in sheets for each session
· Distribute, collect, organize and enter pre/post surveys for all participants for all 6 sessions in the evaluation system (login information will be available the training)
· Respond in a timely manner to requests such as dates/times of academies and data requests, etc.
· Display provided signs branding Born Learning Academy in prominent locations
· Adhere to all marketing and branding guidelines
The Academy Facilitator will:
· Attend 3 trainings per year (first training will be in May – other trainings location and time TBD)
· Study the Facilitator Guide and Parent Training Guide prior to conducting training academies
· Preview all links and materials to ensure they are working and/or available
· Know the skills of the participants and provide support as necessary
· Use inclusive language such as “families” instead of “parents”
· Make the sessions accessible and fun
Attendance and Participation will be maximized by:
· Sending flyers home school‐wide on multiple occasions for each session
· Scheduling academy on same day and time each month making sure the times meet the needs of the participants
· Providing attendance incentives
· Making follow‐up and reminder phone calls/emails to potential participants
· Providing personal invitations through phone calls/emails and home visits
· Encouraging attendees and “graduates” to bring a guest
· Using school data to identify and recruit families with young children
· Offering a “Meet and Greet” informational session
· Actively seeking new participants to attend throughout the year
· Collaborating with local child care centers, apartment complexes, Head Start, public preschool and other agencies
· Connecting Born Learning Academy to basic needs assistance
· Arranging special programs for the children
· Organizing a Graduation for parent/caregiver participation and dedication to their family
· Provide special recognition for volunteers
· Communicating success of each session to school staff, School Board, community parents
