SHOWER AND DRESSING COMPARTMENTS

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.4SUBMITTALS

1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE

1.6DELIVERY

  1. Deliver products in manufacturer's original sealed packaging.
  2. Mark packaging, legibly. Indicate manufacturer's name or brand, type, //color,// production run number, and manufacture date.
  3. Before installation, return or dispose of products within distorted, damaged, or opened packaging.

1.7STORAGE AND HANDLING

  1. Store products indoors in dry, weathertight //conditioned// facility.
  2. Protect products from damage during handling and construction operations.

1.8FIELD CONDITIONS

  1. Environment:
  2. Product Temperature: Minimum 21degreesC (70degreesF) for minimum 48 hours before installation.
  3. Work Area Ambient Conditions: HVAC systems are complete, operational, and maintaining facility design operating conditions continuously, beginning 48 hours before installation until Government occupancy.
  4. Install products when building is permanently enclosed and when wet construction is completed, dried, and cured.
  5. Field Measurements: Verify field conditions affecting compartments fabrication and installation. Show field measurements on Submittal Drawings.
  6. Coordinate field measurement and fabrication schedule to avoid delay.

1.9WARRANTY

SPEC WRITER NOTE: Always retain construction warranty. FAR includes Contractor's one year labor and material warranty.

  1. Construction Warranty: FAR clause 52.24621, "Warranty of Construction."

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1MATERIALS

SPEC WRITER NOTE: Include appropriate materials required for the project.

2.2PRODUCTS - GENERAL

1.Specify products containing greatest recycled content practicable to maximize material recovery. See EPAComprehensive Procurement Guidelines (CPG) for guidance about individual products and available recycled content.Section 018113 sets overall project recycled content requirements.

2.Steel recycled content depends upon furnace type. AISCreports industry wide 32 percent for basic oxygen furnace and 93 percent for electric arc furnace.

  1. Steel Recycled Content: 30 percent total recycled content, minimum.

SPEC WRITER NOTE: EPACPG reports 20 - 100 percent postconsumer recycled content available in plastic partitions.

SPEC WRITER NOTE:

  3. Aerosol adhesives.
  4. Paints and coatings.

2.3SHOWER CABINETS

2.4DRESSING BOOTH PARTITIONS

  1. Materials and Construction: CIDAA60003, Type I, Style C (overhead braced).
  2. Accessories:
  3. Coat Hooks (2): Double hook, chromium plated, one located 75mm (3inches) from top edge at middle of each partition.
  4. Curtain Rod and Hooks: Chromium plated or corrosionresisting steel curtain rod and roller type chromium plated curtain hooks.
  5. Curtains will be furnished by Government.
  6. Drill partitions for throughbolting of wood seat supports.Reinforce partitions to receive wood seats.Fasten coat hooks to partitions by machine screws.

2.5FINISHES

  1. Steel Paint Finish:
  2. PowderCoat Finish: Manufacturer's standard twocoat finish system consisting of the following:
  3. One coat primer.
  4. One coat thermosetting topcoat.
  5. Dryfilm Thickness: 0.05mm (2mils) minimum.

  7. Finish exposed surfaces after fabrication.

2.6ACCESSORIES

  1. Fasteners: Stainless steel.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1INSTALLATION - GENERAL

  1. Install products according to manufacturer's instructions //and approved submittal drawings//.
  2. When manufacturer's instructions deviate from specifications, submit proposed resolution for Contracting Officer's Representative consideration.
  3. Install dressing booth partitions and shower cabinets in rigid, substantial manner, straight, plumb and with horizontal lines level. Provide hexbolts for through-bolt fastening. Conceal evidence of drilling, cutting, and fitting in finish work. Clean finished surfaces and leave free of imperfections.
  4. Support each panel and pilaster abutting building walls near top and bottom by stirrup supports secured to partitions with sex bolts. Secure stirrup supports to building construction with two anchoring devices for each stirrup.Clamp headrails or set into top of each pilaster and secured to building walls. Secure clamps to pilasters with two throughbolts to each clamp. When set into pilasters, throughbolt headrails to pilasters. Support headrails on wall flange fittings secured to building walls with minimum of two anchor bolts to each flange fitting.
  5. Shower Cabinets: Make connections to water supplies and drains watertight. When mounted in wall recesses, caulk joint between cabinet and adjacent wall construction.

3.2CLEANING

  1. Clean exposed compartment surfaces. Remove contaminants and stains.

3.3PROTECTION

  1. Remove protective materials immediately before acceptance.
  2. Repair damage.
