2.6COMPONENTS AND CONTROLS

A.Spray Nozzle Assembly: The nozzle must attach to the head which attaches to the discharge tube. The head supports the aerator assembly on the float. The discharge tube assembly shall be made from 6 inch engineered plastic tubing for toughness and corrosion resistance. The 6 inch size closely matches the pump discharge to reduce pressure losses from transitions.

B.Float: The float must be one piece and molded of high strength, impact, UV and chemical resistant, polyethylene. The float color must be black for minimum visibility in water. Stainless steel inserts must be molded into the float for light attachment and for mooring eyebolts. The float must have molded hand holds for easy handling. The float must be designed for maximum stability and for easy height adjustability to achieve minimum visibility with as little as 1/2 inch of a 15 inch diameter portion of the float visible during operation. The float must be filled with closed cell urethane foam.

C.Pump Assembly: All pump castings, including impellers and diffusers must be precision machined nickel-aluminum-bronze for the highest strength and corrosion resistance. Plastic impellers and diffusers are not acceptable. The pump inlet transition and lower motor support (water inlet) must be highly streamlined to provide an efficient flow path with no performance robbing sharp turns or obstacles. The inlet pump assembly must be made from heavy duty 8 inch PVC tubing for corrosion resistance and sized to ensure optimal water velocity over the motor for cooling. Water intake below the surface must be at suitable depth for both vertical and horizontal systems.

D.Intake Suction Screen: The system must have a non collapsible, type 316 stainless steel intake suction screen made of specially shaped filter wire welded into an assembly to prevent anything larger than a 5/16 inch sphere to enter the intake assembly. The screen must have no less than 2.75 square feet of suction area of which 80 percent is available for water intake.

E.Underwater Power Connection: The electrical connector system for the pump motor must form a watertight connection between the motor lead plug and the pump cable socket. The connector must be UL/cUL/CE rated at 600 volts and 32 amps for continuous submersion to a depth of 33 feet. It must be available with either 3 or 4 pins for connection to 2 wire or 3 wire motors plus a ground. The plug shall be epoxy potted to the motor lead and the socket to the pump cable to create a permanent and watertight connection to those wires. This connector system shall allow for a fast and highly reliability system for disconnecting the unit for service or storage. Both the plug and socket shall have waterproof caps which will allow either to remain dry when submerged while disconnected.

F.Underwater Power Cable: The power cable must be UL listed for continuous submergence and must be SOOW heavy duty round stranded and double insulated, copper cable. One wire in each cable must always act as a ground for proper system grounding. Motor power cable and lighting power cable shall be suitable gage, type and length.

G.Control Panels: The control panel must be UL rated as a fountain controller. Panels for the special 1 HP, 115V European built motor use CE rated components and are not UL rated. Control panels are contained within lockable NEMA-3R fiberglass or 3R painted steel enclosures rated for outdoor installation. All control panels must include a factory installed externally operated disconnect switch, circuit breaker, class A (human rated) ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI)/ on-off switch, 24 hour timer, contactor, and output terminals. Single phase motors 2hp through 5hp shall have a motor control box inside the panel which holds the starting relay and capacitors and keeps them away from the water. Three phase control panels must have a motor circuit controller that provides on-off, overload, phase loss, and short circuit protection.

H.Fasteners: All fasteners must be stainless steel.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1INSPECTION

A.Installer shall examine substrates, supports, and conditions under which this work is to be performed and notify Contractor, in writing, of conditions detrimental to the proper completion of the work. Do not proceed with work until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected. Beginning of installation will be construed as Installer accepting substrates and conditions.

3.2INSTALLATION

A.Strictly comply with manufacturer's instructions and recommendations and approved details. Securely anchor work to substrate. Install control panel in location protected from sun and weather.

B.Install electrical system in accordance with the National Electric Code and applicable regulations.

3.3ADJUSTING, TESTING, AND CLEANING

A.Adjust equipment, operating parts and similar items to work easily, smoothly, and correctly.

B.Clean exposed surfaces using manufacturer recommended materials and methods. Remove and replace work which cannot be successfully cleaned.

C.Test all equipment to show that it complies with specified requirements, and that the water features are in proper working order.

1.Pressure test water service piping until free of leaks or other defects.

2.Test electric circuits, feeders, and equipment.

3.4DEMONSTRATION

A.Provide and review maintenance manual, demonstrate equipment, and instruct Owner's personnel in routine maintenance and proper operation procedures.

3.5PROTECTION

A.Protect water features and equipment throughout the remainder of construction period.
