Meeting Summary
The first meeting of the 2004 City Light Rates Advisory Committee was held on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 in Room 3253 of the Key Tower. A list of Committee members attending is attached. Also attending were representatives of the Mayor’s Office, City Council Central Staff and City Light staff. (See the attached listing of attendees.)
Carol Everson, Acting Deputy Superintendent of City Light for Finance and Administration, welcomed the Committee members and commented on the importance of the task the Committee is undertaking as the City embarks on the first review of electric rates in almost five years.
Andrew Lofton, Chief of Departmental Operations in the Mayor’s Office, represented the Mayor in thanking the Committee members for their willingness to volunteer for service on the Committee. He asked the members of the Committee to introduce themselves. After the introductions he commented that the diversity of the Committee membership ensured that the various interests and customers groups in the City Light service area would be adequately represented in the rate review process.
Staff representing City Light, the Department of Finance and the City Council then introduced themselves.
Joe McGovern, Acting Director of Finance for City Light, discussed major developments since the last rate review, focusing on how City Light dealt with the 2000-2001 Western Power Crisis. His presentation included a brief overview of the rate review process and a tentative schedule. A power Point version of his presentation is available on the RAC website.
Following Mr. McGovern’s presentation Committee members asked a number of questions about City Light’s current financial condition and the issues that will be considered in the rate review.
The Committee tentatively agreed that the next meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 14, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. The time, date and location will be confirmed in the first week of January. The Committee asked that an agenda for the meeting be made available in advance of the meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 5:50.
