WEATHER

With the chill of late fall and approaching winter, the students are wearing more clothing. Ski pants, toques, heavier gloves and scarves. We appreciate you sending these to school with your child. If you could have your child’s name put on the clothing we would have less times that the wrong garment is taken home.

We want the students to have fun at recess, and we will continue to play outside unless it is colder than -30 degrees. If the wind chill is beyond

-30 degrees we will also keep them in. That being said, please continue to make sure your child is properly dressed for the cold weather.

Thank you’s

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone for supporting our Scholastic

Book Fair. It was a great success and we were able to

pick $1000 worth of books for our library.

Thank you to Ian Cross for coming and speaking to us at Remembrance Day service.

Mrs. Cordes: K & Gr 1

Good day!

In Math, the students are still working on Numbers. The Kindergartens are working on Counting and Identifying Numbers to 20. Currently, the Grade 1 students are continuing to work on Addition and Subtraction to 20. In addition, the Grade 1 students have started skip counting by 10s.

In Language Arts, the Kindergartens have been working on letters f, b, j, z, w, v, y, and x. As well, the Kindergartens have been working on segmenting syllables, blending syllables, initial sounds and final sounds in Phonological Awareness. The Grade 1 are working hard at reading. During story time, they have begun to identify the similarities and differences in themed books and have been retelling events in the stories.
Thanks,
Mrs. Cordes

In grade 2-3, we have moved onto our next unit in math, which is patterns. We are also working on writing letters (to Santa) and organizing our paragraphs. In science, we are learning about Objects and Materials (grade 1-2), and Structures and Materials (grade 3). There will be some fun hands on experiments in these units. I appreciate the weekly comprehension pages coming in. Keep up with the daily reading. I see some stickers on the chart!

Thanks,

Mr. Chambers

With Christmas just around the corner we will begin practicing for the Christmas concert this week. In Math, students are working on problem solving, multiplication, division, and numbers up to 1,000,000. For Social Studies, the grade 6 students and I have co-created a research assignment where they will be learning the similarities and differences of a chosen country in comparison to Canada. The grade 3-5 Social Studies class continues to learn about treaties and the effects of people on our land. During Phys. Ed. we continue to work on cooperative games, sportsmanship, and personal fitness.

Thanks,

Miss Hill/Miss Moser
