Searching for truth, what is truth

Hi Esther: Have you got the book, Magic Wanda's Travel Emporium by UU

storyteller Joshua Searle White?

He has a couple of stories in there that might work. There is also a story

by Sarah E. Skwire "Answer Mountain" which focuses on "the truth," "Who is

in charge of the truth?" and "Is there only one truth?" You can find it in

the book "What If Nobody Forgave? and Other Stories" edited by Colleen M.

McDonald it can be purchased from the UUA bookstore (of it is available on

the Tapestry of Faith website's story collection --I think they use it in

the Toolbox of faith curriculum).

Searching the Marketplace is also from Joshua Searle White--in fact I am

using the story this Sunday--

it is also a story about the search for truth but that searching for it is

internal/personal-what calls to each of us.Joshua shared a variety of his

stories with DRE's many years ago and this was one of them. If you like, I

can send it to you off list.

Joan has some great suggestions. Another book that could work is "It's Not

Easy Being a Bunny," by Marilyn Sadler. This would be a light approach, a

sweet, funny parable. All ages like this story.

P.J. Funnybunny decides he doesn't want to be a bunny anymore and goes out

into the world to try out being something else. The other animals are very

sweet and welcoming, taking him right into their families, but something or

other isn't a good fit with every one (bear, beaver, sloth, skunk...).

Finally, P.J. decides he wants to be ... a bunny! And his bunny family as

well as all the other animals that hosted his search celebrate with him.

It's a good story even without the illustrations, which are great.

A Hat for Ivan by Max Lucado about a boy who lives in a village where the adults wear hats that reflect what they most love and Ivan searches for his hat--trying on many before he finds his own unique one.
