Cultural Access Services

1 in 5 Americans has a disability. The creative sector is fit and ready to embrace accessibility practices and inclusion efforts.VSA Ohio launches a new service areain 2017, building on years of research, programs, planning, piloting, and partnership.Cultural Access Consultation servicesinclude an array of trainings for all types of professionals and institutions welcoming people with disabilities. The Cultural Access Coordinator will contribute to all aspects of this new program area’s development, implementation, and advancement. Responsibilities

  • conduct online and document research
  • synthesize ideas into actionable items and reporting
  • communicate with diverse stakeholders
  • welcome requests and think ahead
  • develop branded marketing materials and administrative documents
  • coordinate 4 - 5 statewide trainings (supplies, registration)
  • collect and report on program evaluation strategies
  • promote activities to the news media, social networks, vsao.org
  • maintain accurate records of work, contacts, calendar

Qualifications

  • passion for accessibility and creativity; belief in VSAO’s mission
  • strong and respectful communicator (email, phone, in-person)
  • motivated and will work proactively, independently, and reliably
  • has 3-5 years’ experience in project/programcoordination and research
  • experience using Microsoft Office and Google Suites
  • has experience or can quickly learn new online/programs (Constant Contact, FileMakerPro, Drupal CMS, design software)

This position is an independent contractor, grant-funded through June 30, 2017 at $20 per hour, up to 200 hours. Candidates must be eligible to work in Ohio. The position requires some travel to the VSA Ohio offices and local/regional meetings. It is expected that much of the work will be conducted by telecommuting.
