Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated, experiencedPersonal Lines Underwriter for our Miami office.

Yourresponsibilities will include the underwriting and development of abook of Personal Lines & Flood/Excess Flood products. The position requires selecting profitable risks and building a profitable portfolio of accounts. An important aspect of the position involves managing and developing agent performance and the book of business through personal analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Build & manage relationships with retail agent customers and markets
  • Select profitable risks based upon individual account criteria and underwriting standards.
  • Manage portfolio to control the overall mix of accounts, manage exposures & take prompt action when necessary.
  • Develop new business and retain existing accounts.
  • Achieve customer service standards
  • Work in conjunction with your team to achieve revenue goals
  • Comprehensively manage and service a book of business including:

Manage inquiries from retail agent customers and markets

Issue policies and endorsements according to standards and guidelines for MGA markets

Review loss control material and ensure all polices are acceptable

Manage the flow of paperwork for quoting, binding, and policy management for broker markets

Gather preliminary underwriting information, rate accounts, and prepare quotes/proposals

Handle all invoice billing and execute billing and nonpayment procedures

Handle renewal quoting and/or processing

Handle all administrative tasks associated with assigned book of business

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management (preferred) or equivalent education and experience
  • 2-20 Insurance License desired.
  • Minimum 3 years ofexperience in underwriting Personal Lines and Flood/Excess Flood accounts in the state of Florida with a track record of success.
  • Thorough knowledge of Personal Lines and Flood/Excess Flood insurance & underwriting guidelines.
  • Demonstrate technical competence and the ability to analyze variables, such as type & amount of coverage and loss experience.
  • Negotiation and pricing skills.
  • Demonstrates strong customer service competency with a desire to develop and sustain long lasting relationships with customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Accurate typing, data entry, good mathematical skills, proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Use of personal vehicle for travel (required)

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management / Insurance (preferred), or equivalent education and experience.
