Daily Procedures:

  • Bathroom passes will not be used, it is your responsibility to go before class starts, unless it is an emergency.
  • Pencils must be sharpened before the tardy bell rings. You will not be allowed up out of your seat once class starts unless it is an emergency.
  • Students are required to bring their materialsEVERYDAY (including test days) to class.
  • The bell does not dismiss you - I dismiss you. DO NOT line up at the door to wait for the bell. I will not dismiss you unless everyone is in their seat.

Attendance/Absences

  • Attendance in class is absolutely crucial! Miss a day = miss a lot!
  • If you are absent it is YOURresponsibility to find out what you missed and turn it in within 3 days of returning to school.
  • If you miss a project you will need to see me to make arrangements to make it up (not all projects can be made up due to set-up).

It is important that you are in class EVERY day and especially important that you are in class the day before a test for review and the day of the test. If you are absent the day before the test you will still be expected to take the test. If you are absent the day of a test, you need to be prepared to take the test the day you return. I announce tests a week ahead of time so there is no reason not to be prepared.

Tutoring/Help/Make-up Work

  • Ample time will be given in class to complete projects and assignments. Students are expected to complete and present projects and turn in assignments on time. Late work will not be accepted. 10 points will be deducted per day for all late projects.
  • I will be available for help, tutoring, or to make-up work on Thursday during the last 30 minutes of lunch. Please see me ahead of time to make arrangements so that I know you are planning to come.
  • **If you do not understand something in class please let me know. You are ultimately responsible for learning the material and it is my goal to make sure you understand it.

Acceptable Online Behavior Policy

Use of the Internet provides great educational benefits to students. Unfortunately, some material accessible via the Internet may contain items that are illegal, defamatory, or potentially offensive to some people. Access to the Internet is given as a privilege to students who agree to act in a considerate and responsible manner. We require that students and parents read, accept, and sign the following rules for acceptable online behavior.

  1. Students are responsible for their behavior on the Internet. General school rules for behavior and communications apply.
  2. Network storage areas are treated like school lockers. Network administrators may review files and communications to maintain system integrity and ensure that users are using the system responsibly. Users should not expect that any files or usage are private.
  3. The following are not permitted:
  4. Sending or displaying offensive messages or pictures.
  5. Using offensive language.
  6. Harassing, insulting or attacking others.
  7. Damaging computers, computer systems, or computer’s networks.
  8. Violating copyright laws.
  9. Using another person’s password.
  10. Trespassing in another’s folders, work or files.
  11. Revealing the personal address or phone number of yourself or any other person without permission from your instructor.
  12. Downloading any programs not already installed on the computer.
  13. Music use UNLESS authorized by the instructor.
  14. DO NOT access any social media sites, such as, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc. UNLESS authorized by the instructor.
  15. DO NOT change the desktop background, mouse pointer, screen saver, etc.
  16. Violations will result in an immediate referral to the discipline office and may result in loss of access to computer usage, as well as other disciplinary or legal action.

By signing below, I have read the rules for acceptable online behavior, understand the rules, and agree to comply with the above stated rules. Should I violate the rules, I understand that I may lose network and computer privileges at my school.

In 500 words or fewer…

I would like to provide you with an opportunity to share what you know about your son/daughter with me. In 500 words or fewer, please share anything you think is important, as I like to know who my students are in and out of school. This unique approach will allow me to establish relationships with my students that could normally take months. I invite you to participate in this activity and encourage you to do a little bragging about them.

By working together, we can make this school year a very positive and successful experience for your son/daughter.

Sincerely,

S. Barker
