The challenge of maintaining institutional excellence in the face of severe budget reductions requires us to determine what is essential to our mission, to use what we have wisely, and to identify alternative means to fund our core purposes. As faculty and staff, we recognize the importance of our support and commitment to South CarolinaStateUniversity in maintaining our rich legacy of excellence for another 109 years despite these challenges.
The South Carolina State University Annual Fund allows the University to address unmet needs resulting from diminishing public resources. The purpose of the Annual Fund is to encourage alumni, corporations/organizations, faculty, staff, parents, and friends of South CarolinaStateUniversityto demonstrate their commitment to the University through annual financial contributions. Last year, faculty and staff combined contributions to the Annual Fund increased by 196 percent over the previous year. These gifts provide vitally needed resources for scholarships, academic programs, equipment and material purchases, computers for labs, student services, facilities maintenance and faculty support.
