●We are making a go-cart (bogey) to take the Schools Baton on to Langfaulds Primary on 22 April.
●Our PTA Great Bake Off had the Commonwealth as the showstopper category. The event raised £300 which is being used for resources linked to to our Commonwealth events – thanks to all who supported this event.
●Everyone is learning the new Phil Cunningham and friends song – Here’s to all our Commonwealth – and also both verses of Auld Lang Syne.
●Our choirs are practising their song Wonders of this World.
●On Friday 4 April we are holding our Commonwealth Day. In the morning each class is sharing their learning by giving a presentation to the school about their country and setting up their displays.
In the afternoon we are all gathering in the upper school playground to sing and dance together and to welcome the schools baton from Mount Florida Primary. The baton will be piped in by Kenny Mackenzie (many thanks, Kenny) and Clyde the Commonwealth mascot will join us.
●On Friday 4 April everyone is dressing in the colours of their country’s flag as a non-uniform day.
We are also being presented with an Education Scotland, Game On plaque which is a national award recognising our school’s learning and teaching about the Commonwealth Games. This is a great honour and we are all very proud of our school and delighted to be recognised by the Scottish Government.
●Our pupils are being filmed as part of Education Scotland’s Commonwealth Games Venues virtual tours. Glasgow is also filming our Commonwealth Day as part of the legacy and Glasgow celebrations.
●There is a section on our school website with lots of information, including the words to the song. (www.scotstoun-pri.glasgow.sch.uk)
