Evaluation:

Homework (daily) and assignments : / 30%
Tests and quizzes : / 70%

·  There will be a midterm and final exam, both of which are mandatory

Classroom Policies

·  Students are expected to be in class with proper supplies (textbook, notebook, pencil) prior to the bell. Do not be late – it disrupts the teacher and your classmates

·  Attendance is a key component of student success. If you miss a class, you miss 75 minutes of class time and 30 minutes of homework. When you miss a class, be prepared to spend at least 2 hours to catch up on missed material.

·  Please do NOT use your cell phone in class.

·  Come to class ready to learn, participate, and have fun.

Missed Tests

·  You must write the test on your first day back.

·  You may write the test at lunch or after school (not during class).

Retests

·  Unless circumstances are exceptional, I will not offer retests.

·  Please see me if you are under exceptional circumstances and we can make an arrangement.

Late Homework and Assignments

·  Homework is critical for success in math. Like most things in life, your skills will only improve with practice!

·  In this course, you cannot opt-out of any assignment.

·  Work that is not handed-in will be assigned a score of incomplete (I), which will change your overall percent to an “I” as well.

·  A numerical percent will not be assigned until the missing work is fully completed and turned in.

How to be successful in Math 9

·  The equation for success is very simple:

·  Show up + work hard + have fun = success!

Notebooks

·  Your notebook will be divided into 2 sections – one for notes and one for work. This is not a suggestion, it is a requirement. You will be expected to hand in homework many times during the year. Homework will not be marked if it includes your notes. You are also required to show all of your work for homework assignments.

Notes on Plagiarism

·  Honesty is very important to me

·  If you cheat then you will receive an automatic zero for the work in question, face up to a 3 day suspension from school, and a note will be placed into your permanent student file
