DESCRIPTION:

The Pathways in Technology Early College High School (also known as P-TECH) will: a) collaborate with City Tech so that students have the opportunity to earn an associate degree in the sciences, technology, engineering or math (STEM) prior to graduation; b) design a sequence of experiential learning opportunities where students will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to enter and succeed in high-potential entry-level STEM jobs, as defined by IBM and other industry partners; and c) provide innovative models of instruction, including competency-based pathways and project-based learning. School staff is encouraged to attend the two annual faculty weekend retreats, an annual student orientation, and participate in after school tutoring and summer programs (Compensation according to the UFT contract and advance notice will be provided. Staff participation in this activity is voluntary, but strongly encouraged, as it is very important to the development of the school)

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of regular New York City School Secretary license, with satisfactory ratings and attendance

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Because roles in P-TECH are varied and complex, serious consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate in their resume and cover letter experience and/or willingness to commit to the school’s mission and core beliefs and to become involved in these essential aspects:

Perform School Secretary tasks in support of the learning community and focus of the school.

Relate with respectful, effective communication and interpersonal skills with all students, parents, staff, education partners and community-based organizations.

Perform payroll, purchasing and supply duties using DOE systems and Microsoft applications.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Evidence of willingness to carry out above duties and responsibilities.

Ability and /or willingness to learn to efficiently use FAMIS, Fastrack, ATS, EIS and other DOE purchasing protocols.

Ability to perform general office management tasks with an emphasis on managing a 21st Century digital environment leveraging progressive time management protocols and techniques

Ability and /or willingness to learn to process school-wide payroll.

Ability and /or willingness to learn to maintain student records and schedules and coordinate all purchase of textbooks, equipment, and supplies.

Ability and/or willingness to learn to utilize office equipment and software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Google Apps for Education), with organizational skills to maintain payroll, purchasing and inventory records.

Ability to work effectively in a CTE school setting, requiring the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively.

Evidence of verbal and written communication skills.

Willingness to learn new skills and participate in professional development activities.

Ability to implement appropriate procedures regarding student and employee records in keeping with DOE regulations.
