STUDENT DISCPLINARY PROCEDURE

NOTIFICATION OF SUSPECTED CASES OF STUDENT MISCONDUCT

Cases of suspected misconduct should be reported to the Dean of School/Director of Professional Support Service or nominee using this form as soon as the incident arises or any investigation into it has been completed. This form should be fully completed, including the name of the person completing each section and the relevant date, and be attached to the front of documentary evidence submitted.

Please bear in mind students must be given a minimum of 10 working days to attend a hearing and will be written to by the Secretary. Student Disciplinary Panels are held approximately every two to three months, and ad hoc hearings can take over a month to schedule.

When completing please consider whether personal information, particularly that relating to third parties needs to be included, or if names, contact details etc. can be left out, anonymised and/or redacted.

SECTION 2 ACTION BY DEAN/DIRECTOR OR NOMINEE

To be completed by the School/Professional Support Service (in consultation with QEO). Take into account the seriousness and the extent of the alleged misconduct, and whether there is a direct interest for the University.

Please remember this information will form the basis of the case considered by the Student Disciplinary Panel. It is the responsibility of the referring school/professional support service to make the case, where insufficient or inappropriate evidence is provided a Panel may not be able to reach a decision that misconduct has occurred and the case will be dismissed.
